4 Colorado Wonderland Association Scope The Colorado Wonderland Association was a non-profit state-wide organization owned and operated by the Colorado State Junior Chamber of Commerce. It was founded in 1939 and its function was to promote the tourist industry of Colorado, primarily through the publication of Colorado - Vacation Wonderland, a tourist guide book. The first issue of this periodical was published in 1939 with a distribution of over 100,000 copies. Among the collection contents are the first three issues of the magazine, ending with the 1941 issue. No other documentation in the collection is available after The Association was dissolved in A private corporation, Colorado Wonderland, Inc., (no relation to the Colorado State Junior Chamber of Commerce) was founded in December of The product of this company was Colorado Wonderland, a magazine similar to the original Colorado - Vacation Wonderland. Provenance The Colorado Historical Society Reference ID for this material is MSS # 158. The provenance of the collection is unknown. Significance Colorado - Vacation Wonderland was distributed throughout the United States and by local Chambers of Commerce and the Colorado State Highway Courtesy Patrol at Ports of Welcome. It served to advertise the vacation and resort potential of the state, all of which contributed to the Colorado s economy.
