2 To RAAM Racers and Crew, Preparations for RAAM 2008 are well under way. It s going to be another great race this year! We know you re working hard to prepare for this year s race. The GEAR Book is designed to help in your preparation. The GEAR Book contains a wealth of information critical to getting ready to race in RAAM. It primarily covers race details and some logistics of the race. You still need to read the rules and should find articles about doing RAAM itself. We ll do our best to make sure your RAAM experience will be as enjoyable and safe as possible. Your job is to help us stay on schedule by returning the required forms and following the procedures closely. Should you have questions, problems or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us. 14 Getting to Oceanside Train From San Diego Airport Amtrak has many daily trips from San Diego north to Oceanside. This is the Pacific Surfliner train. Information about the Pacific Surfliner route is available at the Amtrak website. The schedule is at Further information is available at USA-RAIL. The San Diego North County Transit runs the Coaster commuter train. The Coaster has a regular schedule on Monday-Friday with a reduced schedule on Saturday. The website with details is Further details at 800-COASTER. All trains depart from the Santa Fe Depot station at 1050 Kettner Blvd, San Diego. The Metropolitan Transit System Flyer Route No. 992 services the Santa Fe Depot from the San Diego International Airport. This bus departs every 10 minutes between 5:00am and 12:50am from Terminals 1 and 2 at the San Diego International Airport. The schedule is at Both the Pacific Surfliner and Coaster stop at the Oceanside Train Station which is several blocks from the RAAM Start. Check specific schedules to ensure the Oceanside is a scheduled stop. From Los Angeles Amtrak has many daily trips from Los Angeles south to Oceanside. This is the Pacific Surfliner train. Information about the Pacific Surfliner route is available at the Amtrak website. The schedule is at Further information is available at USA-RAIL. Metrolink has commuter trains from Los Angeles south to Oceanside via the Orange County Line. This line has a different Saturday/Sunday schedule. Details are at To get from the Los Angeles International Airport to Union Station, take the Fly Away bus service. Details are at Both the Pacific Surfliner and Metrolink stop at the Oceanside Train Station, which is several blocks from the RAAM Start.
