3 SUMMER ARTS IN THE PARKS BOWEN BLUES FREE Hosted by the Waukegan Park District s Cultural Arts Division and local blues band, The Rockin Aces. This event will take place on the second Wednesday of the month in the evening at the Morrison Pavilion. If the weather doesn t cooperate music will be at the Jack Benny Center, 39 Jack Benny Drive-North Entrance to Bowen Park. Call Jack Benny Center ( ) for updates. The music will start at 7:00 p.m. FREE! fresh delicious An outdoor movie will be shown in the park at dusk. For more information, please call The Waukegan Park District s Cultural Arts Division is celebrating the Japanese Star Festival Tanabata This festival takes place on the 7th day of the 7th month of the year, when according to legend, two stars, Altair and Vega, usually separated from each other by the Milky Way, are able to meet. Join us in the 8th annual celebration of Tanabata. Make a wish for clear weather as you attach your personal wish or haiku poem for the upcoming year to the wishing tree otherwise, Altair and Vega cannot meet. Registration is not required but you may call for further details or if you need an accommodation for this special event offered at the Bowen Heritage Circle.
4 Beginning in June, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays the Cultural Arts van will be parking at different parks throughout the Waukegan Park District. The van will arrive at 10am or 6pm and will bring a project to your neighborhood. In the event of rain, the ARTS PARK will be cancelled.
