3 Bloomington offers a nearly unlimited selection of diverse restaurants. Family-style home cooking, candle-lit dining rooms, outdoor cafes and intimate little snack bars are just a few of the options diners have in the area. Cuisine ranges from fast food to ethnic delicacies to incomparable steaks and walleye pike Minnesota s state fish and a specialty of the area. Shopping Mall of America (located in Bloomington) is the largest enclosed retail, dining and entertainment complex in the nation, and welcomes more than 42 million annual visitors. The district s innovative schools and programs range from early childhood services to the use of technology in the classroom to an internationally-recognized gifted program. Normandale Community College is an urban two-year college serving primarily the southwestern communities of the Minneapolis/Saint Paul metropolitan area. Established in 1968, the college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. More than 10,000 students from diverse backgrounds take courses at the college annually. There are many other colleges and universities in the area, including Rasmussen College, Minnesota State University, France and Northwestern Health Sciences University.
