5 What are Robotics Innovation Facilities(RIF)? RIFs are facilities for bringing researchers and industry in direct contact with current and new users of robotics technology New user groups are: E++ experiments, SMEs and start-ups, Students The purposeof the RIFsishence: To be a living lab To serve as test-beds for E++ experiments To be central and sustainable showrooms for the general public Experiments Robotics Innovation Facilities (RIF) Pre-Commercial PDTI Procurement (PCP)

6 What are Robotics Innovation Facilities(RIF)? RIFs equipments The platforms in the RIF provide capacitiesto make experiments in realistic settings. The platforms provided in the RIF are supported by a team of researchers and technicians in the mechatronics, control and supervision. 16 : PECCIOLI RIFs Cognitive Logistics Robots Target: Robotic environment able to provide a service for people in order to simplify the execution of specific tasks, such as logistics robots that provide autonomous transport of goods and autonomous transport of people (especially elderly people) in urban area, from streets to houses passing through condos (i.e. Robotown) ExperimentalTest Beds: - Peccioli: from streets and squares to condos i.e.: - Robotic services to assist in every climatic condition(helping in food and medicine shopping and garbage collection)

18 Agricultural and Food Robotics Target: Robotics can change the entire homesteador agricultural facility: thanks to the automatizationof the entire process from the raw product to the finished one (i.e. from grain to flour to pasta; from fruit to beverage) and the development of agricultural robots for precision farming (i.e. automatized cleaning of barns, harvest, groom). 21 Selected Experiments (first call), Peccioli RIF CASE A Surgery: the aim is to develop a vision guided robotic platform for laser eye surgery. CASE B..Robotic platform assembly and testing activities can have advantages in using a RIF because of this can accelerate the system integration Justification of the use of PeccioliRIF of CASE A s Experimenters Agricultural Robotics: improvement of automatic harvesting systems for green asparagus A first session of experiments will be conducted at the very beginning of the project to get expert advice on potential optimisations. A second session will be conducted at the end to attract consumers and to raise awareness while running field experiments Justification of the use of PeccioliRIF of CASE B s Experimenters

22 Selected Experiments (first call), Peccioli RIF CASE C Rehabilitation: development of a planar rehabilitation robot aimed to restore upper limb functionality. CASE D The PeccioliRIF comprises the AuxiliumVitae rehabilitation center in which neurological patients and engineers and therapists generally work side by side. Due to these conditions, the PeccioliRIF is an ideal cradle to develop and test the robotic rehabilitation device Justification of the use of PeccioliRIF of CASE C s Experimenters Assistant Robot: to develop a mobile robotic assistant for tire workshops We plan to use the PeccioliRIF, where local industries are available for testing new robotic co-workers, to evaluate the effectiveness of our solution in other industrial settings Justification of the use of PeccioliRIF of CASE D s Experimenters

23 Selected Experiments (first call), Peccioli RIF CASE E Assistant Robot: aims at developing a co-working robot for specific floor building functions: grout removal and floor washing with acid. The PeccioliRIF is the right location to demonstrate the prototype and to recruit construction workers: the RIF possess contacts with the Municipality of Peccioliwhich would help to recruit construction workersto which demonstrate the system and that will be trained to use it Justification of the use of PeccioliRIF of CASE E s Experimenters CASE F Rehabilitation:development of an assistive device for rehabilitation of the upper limb designed to execute rehabilitation exercises for both home and clinic applications. Our solution will largely benefit from the possibility to be tested at the PeccioliRIF. The device will be assessed in the Ambient Assisted Living Lab first, replicating a real domestic environment and then at the AuxiliumVitae rehabilitation centre(volterra), with the availability of medical staff experienced in using robotic rehabilitation devices Justification of the use of PeccioliRIF of CASE F s Experimenters
