1 Jun 30, 2013 Jetstar Airways will introduce B787 in its regular service from the Kansai International Airport Jetstar Airways (JQ) is pleased to announce that it will introduce the Boeing B787 (Dreamliner) in the Kansai-Cairns route from September 5 (Fri), 2014 in accordance with the following schedule. This is the ninth route for Jetstar Airways to operate the service by B787 and the third route to Japan. Currently, the carrier flies the route by the Airbus A330. The introduction of the fuel-efficient B787, however, will help the carrier continue low-fares and provide travelers with a comfortable flight experience. Incidentally, Jetstar Airways is the third carrier to operate the Boeing B787 from the Kansai International Airport after Air India and United Airlines. 3 Jun 30, 2013 Quick charger for electric vehicles (EVs) begin 24-hour operation Kansai International Airport has been working on the development of EV chargers, the installation of hydrogen gas and compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations, and the generation of power from clean energy in pursuit of being an environmentally advanced airport friendly to humans and Earth with less impact on the global environment under the concept of the Smart Island-Proposal. Recently, Kansai International Airport installed an EV quick charger available for 24 hours a day in P5, a plane parking lot located next to the Terminal 2 Building. The installation of this EV quick charger available for 24 hours a day will further improve the convenience of EVs and similar vehicles. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and four automobile manufacturers are in pursuit of the spread of EVs, plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHVs), and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and the actualization of a low-carbon society. Therefore, they have been subsidizing the installation and maintenance of EV chargers under a project to promote development of charging infrastructure for next-generation vehicles such as EVs and a project on dissemination of charging infrastructure for EVs.
