About Hainan Airlines: Hainan Airlines is the flagship of the Group of s and as such considered the most prestigious of the group. With ambitious expansion plans, Hainan Airlines is now looking to expand its fleet into the long-haul sector with additional routes being added constantly. The domestic network serves as the s backbone, serviced by a modern fleet of Boeing 737NG aircraft which will soon see the addition of the new Boeing 737 Max aircraft. Though Haikou is the company s birthplace and Headquarters location, Beijing serves as its biggest and most prominent base due to all long haul operations being based in and out of Beijing. The Shenzhen base is growing but is only for the use of B737 pilots. Accommodation is provided by the for on duty days as well as on a daily basis for the period until being signed out as an active line pilot. Days off and travel: One of the mentionable differences between Hainan days off and those offered on typical 20/10, 19/11 type patterns is that the Hainan days off are adjustable. This means that days off are confirmed no earlier than the 15 th of the previous. This is important as the candidate needs to understand that if you choose the 8 days off or 11 days off pattern, your days off do not mean that you will be in China for 22 days and 8 at home or 19 days on and 11 at home. As these days are adjusted continuously, it can happen for example that you might be in China for days and then go home for your 11 days with perhaps a 10-day period to your next off days. All travel to and from home will take place on off days for all pilots, however, long haul pilots may at times be given flights to operate as positioning flights. Contract patterns and bases: Currently Hainan offers expat pilots 4 (the fourth option is divided into a and b) different contract options ranging from Residential to 8 days off, 11 days off and 4 weeks on / 4weeks off. It is rumoured that the is considering revising these patterns as the adjustable days off have proved to be somewhat unpopular with commuting pilots due to the unstable nature of these days. The following bases are offered as of November 2016: Residential (and operational base in China): B737 Beijing, Xian, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Haikou; B787 Beijing; A330 Beijing. Foreign commuting base: All fleets North America USA: Boston, Seattle, San Jose. Canada: Calgary. Europe Manchester, Paris, Rome, Brussels, Berlin, Prague. Asia Auckland, possibly soon to come, Australia.

3 Understanding bases: In Hainan, your base out of China is purely a base from which you commute. You will be assigned to an operational base in China as per residential, where you will be expected to secure accommodation for your days off between flights. Hotel accommodation is offered for your days on duty but not your days off duty. Long haul pilots will at times get to enjoy operating back and forth to their residential bases outside of China but for domestic and regional pilots this is not the case.
