With Kinko Bay in front and the magnificent Mount Sakurajima behind, one can feel the energy of mother nature. Sakurajima Arimura Observatory - Sakurajima is one of Japan's most active volcanoes and the symbol of Kagoshima. The volcano smokes constantly, and minor eruptions often take place multiple times per day. Located in the middle of Kagoshima Bay, Sakurajima is the area's most prominent geographic feature, having an elevation of 1117 meters and a circumference of about 50 kilometers. Before a powerful eruption in 1914, Sakurajima used to be an island in the bay, but the massive lava flow from that eruption created the volcano's current land connection to the Osumi Peninsula in the east. The Arimura Observatory gives a view onto Sakurajima's craters from a slight elevation of about 75 meters. (Takes about 40 steps up to the Observatory) Tenmonkan it is one of the city's main shopping, entertainment and accommodation districts in Kagoshima. There are retail stores, boutiques, restaurants selling traditional Kagoshima food, café, and so on, lining the Tenmonkan arcade, downtown Kagoshima, Kagoshima Bay and Sakurajima. This water kills germs and is recommended for people with skin diseases and those who want to make their skin beautiful. Obama Foot Bath Obama is set against a backdrop of the magnificent Unzen mountains, facing the deep-blue Tachibana Bay. From the open-air hot spring, you can view the amazing sunset in the west. The red sun sinking into the crystal blue sea: how romantic! At 105 meters in length, this is the longest foot bath in Japan. Higashiyamate Western Houses It is one of the popular tourist spots in Nagasaki City. There are 7 western style houses that are constructed in the middle of 19th century. They are registered as the preserved scenery with traditional houses. These houses have beautiful green and white color walls with stone walls. They are the first western style architectures that imported in Japan after Edo period.
