Golden Pavilion Golden Pavilion It is perhaps the most widely-recognized image of Kyoto. Seen reflected in the adjoining "mirror pond" with its small islands of rock and pine, Kinkaku-ji Temple, "The Golden Pavilion," is a breath-taking must-see Osaka Castle which is a famous landmark, a popular sightseeing spot, and the symbol of Osaka, contains thirteen structures which have been designated as Important Cultural Assets by the Japanese government. Of special note are the grand gates and turrets along the outer moat. The steep walls that rise close to 30 meters high are made of huge blocks of stone that were transported to Osaka from quarries over kilometers away. The sheer height of the walls and the wide moats they rise above make for a grand sight that can be matched by no other castle in Japan. Entrance fee to Osaka Castle Museum will be on passenger own expense. Shinsaibashi Shopping Street It is the largest shopping area in Osaka where many boutiques and specialty shops are gathered, attracting local people and visitors. The Shisaibashi has developed from the arcaded streets Shinsaibashi Shopping Street which runs east to Mido-Suji Avenue, is the best-known shopping area in Osaka, and an enduring symbol of the city. It is Tokyo's oldest temple and one of its most significant colorful and popular temples. When approaching the temple, visitors first enter through the Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate), the outer gate of Sensoji Temple and the symbol of Asakusa and the entire city of Tokyo. A shopping street of over 300 meters, called Nakamise, alongside typical Japanese souvenirs & traditional local snacks from the Asakusa area are sold along the Nakamise. The shopping street has a history of several centuries. The Imperial Palace East Gardens - In April, 1949 part of the Imperial Household Gardens opened to the public to become this park. This park is roughly divided into the outer garden featuring the Imperial Palace Front Plaza, the Kitanomaru area situated at the Palace's north side, and the Palace perimeter which surrounds the palace with 12 moats. Ginza - A world-renowned shopping district, Ginza is a fascinating place where the latest trends and the oldest traditions meet. This harmonious mix is clearly visible in its streets lined by department stores, world-class designer boutiques and well-established stores. The current shrine pavilions were built under the special protection of Tokugawa Ieyasu, is a national designated important cultural property. With Kinko Bay in front and the magnificent Mount Sakurajima behind, one can feel the energy of mother nature. Sakurajima Arimura Observatory - Sakurajima is one of Japan's most active volcanoes and the symbol of Kagoshima. The volcano smokes constantly, and minor eruptions often take place multiple times per day. Located in the middle of Kagoshima Bay, Sakurajima is the area's most prominent geographic feature, having an elevation of 1117 meters and a circumference of about 50 kilometers. Before a powerful eruption in 1914, Sakurajima used to be an island in the bay, but the massive lava flow from that eruption created the volcano's current land connection to the Osumi Peninsula in the east. The Arimura Observatory gives a view onto Sakurajima's craters from a slight elevation of about 75 meters. (Takes about 40 steps up to the Observatory) Tenmonkan it is one of the city's main shopping, entertainment and accommodation districts in Kagoshima.
