3 TALK home Sharing the Tradition With Bill and Anne Masters written by Kim Hassold photographed by Owen Riley Bill Masters began interweaving the story of his family with the rich tapestry of Jocassee history when he began visiting the area in his youth. Masters says he hiked and explored the forests and mountains that are now covered by the waters of Lake Jocassee. The Masters family has spent many summers, vacations, and weekends, continuing the exploration of what Bill refers to as the never ending wonders of the area. It is this desire to bring other families together in an exquisite setting that inspired him to create the Jocassee Club and the home know known as The Whitewater Lodge. Masters and his wife, Anne, and son, Nathan, welcomed us to their haven recently, so we could experience the magic firsthand. Much thought was put into planning areas where families can gather and be together.
