This is a unique tour for experiencing the variety of England, Scotland and Wales by private luxury train for 6 nights/7 days. Each car bears the name of a significant stately home and is furnished with specially commissioned designs, fabrics and furnishings that celebrate British heritage. On Board Services: Sumptuous food, complemented by a selection of fine wines is freshly prepared by expert chefs and served among settings of fine linen and sparkling crystal. When not dining on the train, clients can enjoy meals at their hotels or at specially selected venues. Special dietary meals available (must be reserved at time of booking). Service aboard the Northern Belle is impeccable. Stewards are always on hand to ensure that all of the clients arrangements are seamless. The tour guides are knowledgeable, captivating and entertaining. Seating: Tables of two, three and four. Please note that during high season parties of two may be seated sharing a table of four. Clothing: Comfortable day wear is acceptable. For Edinburgh dine-around and farewell dinner, more formal wear is customary. Smoking: Orient-Express operates a no smoking policy in its dining cars. 2 Program Day 1 Friday: London/York Clients begin their trip in style boarding the gleaming carriages at London Victoria at 8:45 am. After a champagne brunch on board, they arrive at York in the afternoon and visit the wonderful stately home of Castle Howard. Home for 300 years to the Howard family, this estate was used as the setting for the movie Brideshead Revisited. A private tour of the house, which includes artworks by Van Dyck and Gainsborough is followed by Afternoon Tea in the Grecian Hall. Clients then enjoy dinner on board as the Northern Belle continues traveling north, offering spectacular views of the historic cities of Durham and Newcastle on the River Tyne. Upon arriving in Edinburgh, transfer to the Balmoral Hotel where clients will spend the night. Day 2 Saturday: Edinburgh After breakfast at the hotel clients have time to explore Scotland s capital city where they will find striking contrasts: tall, dark buildings in medieval Old Town and classical architecture in Georgian New Town. They will enjoy such sights as Edinburgh Castle, the National Gallery and Holyrood House. For those wishing to explore further, a guided Glasgow excursion is available. Scotland s second city is reknown as a showcase of design and architecture, particularly with the distinctive influence of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. In the evening, clients dine from a choice of select restaurants. Overnight at Balmoral Hotel Day 3 Sunday Oban/Isle of Mull The journey begins early in the morning with breakfast served onboard Northern Belle while clients are on route to the Inner Hebrides. The route along the West Highland Way with views of Loch Lomand, valleys and hillsides inhabited by an abundance of wildlife will captivate clients. After arriving at the Scottish seaside town of Oban, clients sail to the island of Mull where they ll be welcomed at Duart Castle, ancestral home of the Laird of Lachalan, head of the McLean clan. This 13 th century castle, set high atop a cliff, offers remarkable views of three intersecting sea lochs and serves as the ideal backdrop for experiencing traditional Scottish Highland games and dancing. Clients enjoy Scottish liqueurs and local whiskey before sailing back to the mainland, and then partake in a gourmet Scottish dinner aboard the Northern Belle as they travel back to Edinburgh. Overnight at Balmoral hotel. Day 4 Monday: Yorkshire/Chester As clients depart Edinburgh, they journey along one of the world's most scenic routes: the Settle and Carlisle railway, known for its soaring viaducts over the Yorkshire Dales. Clients enjoy brunch before leaving the train to visit Haworth, the heart of Bronte country. Haworth, with its quaint cobbled main street is the site of the parsonage still preserved that was home to the Bronte sisters. A local literary expert will guide clients on a walking tour of the grounds, bringing the sisters works vibrantly to life. Clients will also visit nearby Saltaire. This Victorian factory town developed in 1853 as a social experiment, combined industry

3 and beauty in Italian style buildings. The Mill now houses artworks by locally born David Hockney, arguably the best-known British artist of the 20 th century, now based in California. Clients reboard the Northern Belle for dinner as they travel to the medieval walled town of Chester. Overnight at the Chester Grosvenor Hotel. Day 5 Tuesday: Wales/Bath Following breakfast at the hotel, clients board the Northern Belle for a visit to the beautiful Bodnant Gardens. This resplendent garden, tended since 1875 and symbolic of one of Britain s greatest passions is recognized for its variety of plantings, shrubs and mature trees, as well as its landscaped terraces and lawns. From the garden clients will also have a spectacular view of Snowdonia. While in Wales, clients will be treated to a demonstration of sheep dog trials which they are certain to find a fascinating event. Clients reboard the train and head south through the beautiful Costwolds and on to the city of Bath. A blend of Roman and Georgian history and styles, bath exudes the aura of a living museum while at the same time offering a delightful array of shops and activities. Clients enjoy a relaxing two-night stay at the Bath Spa Hotel. Day 6 Wednesday: Bath Clients explore the many sites and points of interest in Bath: the Roman Baths, the Pump room, the Assembly Rooms (at one time considered to be among the most elegant buildings in Europe), the Royal Crescent (part of which is now classified as a World Heritage Building), and the Museum of Costume which features displays from Tudor times to present day. Guides will be available to ensure that the tour is both enjoyable and informative. After lunch and some free time for shopping, clients will depart for Sudelely Castle, a medieval fortress restored in the 19 th century. A private tour of the castle followed by a sumptuous banquet are in store for clients this evening. Overnight at the Bath Spa Hotel. Day 7 Thursday: Stonehenge/Salisbury The Flying Scotsman, the world s most famous steam engine, joins the Northern Belle for a journey back to London that recalls the grand tours of the past. Stop along the way to visit dramatic Stonehenge as well as the cathedral city of Salisbury, where the original Magna Carta is displayed. Clients reboard Northern Belle for a late lunch and to return to London Victoria. Train will depart Salisbury at 5:20pm and arrive London Victoria at 9:00pm.
