In 1844, Georges Williams was 23 when he arrived in London to find work. He saw the difficulties faced by youth coming from the contryside and founded a youth community. The YMCAs quickly are developed around the world. YMCA France is the French branch of the global non-profit organization. It gathers 23 associations represented by the Alliance nationale. Its actions are aimed at young people and people facing difficulties. It works for a fairer society by supporting the individual. 6 Education project The development of the youth - animators and children - is at the core of our engagement. Our non-formal education activities are organized to allow them to blossom and be aware of their potential. Youth diversit is welcomed, we encourage people to meet each other and ; those are our values. Organizers and teamers are at the disposal of the families and create a relationship with them based on dialogue and listening. Each one is invited to : Feel good in his/her body : to accept it, respect it heal it by providing physical security rythms adapted to young people s developement and a healthy diet ; Feel good in his/her mind : to use intelligence, critical thinking and imagination through games and workshops and space to make collective decisions ; Feel good in his/her heart : to communicate, dialogue and cooperate with others, to serve allow everybody to find his/her place that suits him/her within the group and be able to express themselves. A space where young people can experience life in community and emppower themselves They are empowered and actors of the project by participating at the daily life tasks making collective decisions concerning the activities encouraging volunteering Encourage meeting By taking into account the individuals, encouraging exchanges, and respectful and open-minded confrontation of different point of views without proselytism. Respect of differences As an international movement, open-mindness and intercultural sharing are at the core of our holidays. We want to show that differences are an enrichment. the holidays are affordable and allow (a lot of people) to participate in. intercultural holidays allow young people from different backgrounds to meet and share experiences. Journeys focusing on the issues of our world Our holidays are in line with the challenges of our time. Our aim is to give young people the keys to understand better our society and be an active member. The educational team aims to develop their critical thinking, sensibilize them to the protection of nature, citizenship and democracy through debates and other workshops. 6

They aim to give young people the keys to understand our society and to let them be active members in it. Individual fulfishment and collective harmony are privileged and we allow them to discover their respective countries. Individual, 12 year-olds & older, can have an unforgettable experience on these trips. Journeys are organised to YMCAs Summer Camps in the USA, Canada to encourage the practice of English. The YMCA centers put at your disposal facilities of quality to make your seminaries and study days spaces favourable to professional exchanges and workteam. Meeting rooms are available, with different sizes to suit to your group. These rooms are equiped with Wifi, paperboard, screen, video projector, etc. Seminar and formation To reinforce the cohesion of your team, we can organize activities adapted to your objectives : sport challenges, entertaining activities, collaboration, creation, reflexion, themes parties, individual and collective coaching. Alter Hostel is a participative hostel located in the 9th district of Lyon, on the edge of the Saône.
