Sunday 27 may - DAY 2 9:30 am to 2 pm: Cooking class 2:30 pm to 4 pm: Pont du Gard 4:30 pm to 6 pm: The archaeological cellar of the Mas des Tourelles 6 pm: Free time in Nîmes.

3 the palais des papes Built during the Middle Ages, the Palace hosted the headquarters of the Catholic Church during the 14th century, when Pope Clement V chose Avignon as the new episcopal capital to flee from political violence in Rome. The Palace is one of the most beautiful masterpieces of medieval European Gothic architecture. the camargue This natural park extends across more than 150,000 hectares (370,650 acres). Bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, it is a haven for many rare and indigenous plant and animal species, such as Camargue cattle, Camargue horses and greater flamingos. The Camargue is also known internationally for its salt: the saltworks of Aigues-Mortes produce 500,000 tonnes annually.

Evening: Free time in the centre of Avignon. tuesday 29 may - DAY 4 - The camargue 10 am: The saltworks in Aigues-Mortes 11:30 am: Maguelone Cathedral 12:15 pm: Wine tasting: Muscat de Frontignan 1:30 pm: Free time in the centre of Béziers 4:15 pm: Departure from Béziers airport - arrival at Manchester at 6:05 pm.

5 the arènes de nîmes This Roman amphitheatre dates from the end of the 1st century CE. It had a capacity of 24,000 spectators, who came above all to attend the famous gladiatorial combats. The rehabilitated arenas currently host bullfights and concerts. the Pont du Gard The Pont du Gard is the highest Roman aqueduct in the world. Built during the 1st century CE, it is a UNECO-listed monument due to its exceptional conservation status. The most visited ancient monument in France, it eloquently demonstrates the architectural expertise of the time.

6 TERMS AND CONDITIONS Registation deadline is 10 March There must be a minimum of 6 participants for the trip to take place. The maximum number of participants is 8. Fees must be paid on registration to secure your place. Fees will be refunded if the minimum number of participants has not been reached by the registration deadline. Fees are not refundable under any circumstances once the trip has been confirmed. Flights should only be reserved once the trip has been confirmed; the Alliance Française de Manchester is not responsible for the flight arrangements of participants. Each participant should ensure that his/her passport is valid and up to date, and that he/she has a valid visa if necessary. If a participant books any other flight than those mentioned in the brochure, it will be his/her responsability to arrange transport to join the group. Participants must be covered by their own insurance. The Alliance Française de Manchester will not be responsible for any incident or loss that occurs before or during the tip. Please be aware that this trip is not open to anyone under the age of 18 due to alcohol tasting activites. THE PRICE INCLUDES: A teacher from the Alliance Française de Manchester who will help you to practise French for the duration of the stay. Three nights of accommodation in a hotel (breakfast included). Sunday midday meal. THE PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE: Transport between Manchester and Béziers. All other activities not mentioned in the brochure.
