2 UNIVERSITÉ CATHOLIQUE DE LYON LYON, FRANCE PROGRAM DURATION: June 4-29, 2018 ARRIVAL and placement test date: June 3, 2018 A variety of courses for different skill levels including aspects of Grammar, conversation, History of France, Lyon and Rhone Alpes region, literature and culture. HOUSING with families. PRICE: 1330 euros (approx. $1524 complete tuition and home stay accommodation, two meals a day during the week and three meals a day on week-ends, laundry, excursions and cultural activities with family, pick up from airport/ train station if advanced notice is given to home stay families. Does not include: Airfare, passport, personal spending money, local transportation, optional tours to other regions of France and Switzerland (cost TBD). UD CREDITS: 6 credit hours of advanced French courses UD requires a $950 non-refundable deposit ($750 if we have 5-7 participants) Application due: January 16 th 2018

3 INSTITUT DE LANGUE ET DE CULTURE FRANÇAISES Campus Saint Paul Heart of Lyon Campus Carnot University Libraries Multimedia rooms ILCF is part of the Catholic University of Lyon s Faculty of Literature and Languages, ILCF has specialized in teaching French to non-native speakers since The ILCF students have access to both campuses of the Catholic University of Lyon: Campus Carnot and Campus St Paul, as well as to the facilities provided by the Catholic University of Lyon, such as the university libraries, sports hall, multimedia rooms, catering services, health care support, cafeterias, sports, student societies, and a chaplaincy.

4 ACADEMIC PROGRAM AND CERTIFICATION General academic program: 72 hours 18 hours per week of common core courses (together with other international students). Levels from A1 to B2 according to the European Framework of Reference for the Languages (document which defines the levels and competences in language). Certification and credits: at the end of the term, a university certificate in French studies is awarded, stating the attained level.

6 LYON: UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE Its city center reflects 2,000 years of history, with a Roman amphitheater in Fourvière, medieval and Renaissance architecture in Vieux Lyon, and the modern, redeveloped Confluence district on the Presqu'île peninsula between the rivers. UCL will coordinate group excursions to discover cultural heritage of Lyon, Traboules (secret passageways), international meals, picnics and other activities encouraging cultural exchange with French and other international students. 10 A STUDENT S FEEDBACK In the beginning of the trip, I was a bit anxious considering the small group actually attending from UD; however, as I went through the program I realized that it was best this way. Overall, the study abroad program allowed me to push myself not only academically, but also mentally and made me go out of my comfort zone to do things I never imagined doing in my current situation. Needless to say, it was one of the best experiences of my life thus far. The educational part of the program was also amazing. Lastly, the homestay part of the program was a great decision made by the University of Dallas. It was really nice to experience life as a typical French person would. I was introduced to a lot more than just French living and I was able to learn a lot more than just French.
