Enjoy the read! 2 Toulouse Cricket Club 2.1 Background Toulouse cricket club was resurrected early in Most of our cricket club members live in and around the great city of Toulouse, capital of the Haute-Garonne department in South-West France. 4 2.4 Our playing philosophy TCC is a club that has risen phoenix-like from the ashes after a dormant period of over 10 years ironically inspired by England regaining the ashes. We have a nice mix of abilities and experience but all share an enthusiasm for the game. We play cricket for fun but also enjoy to win an occasional match. Indeed a sprinkling of northerners ensures that the competitive edge is kept reasonably sharp (Ey up/ eee by-gum) A squad of around 30 players enables us to select teams of appropriate strength for any fixture. However we always ensure that everyone playing gets a chance to humiliate themselves by either batting or bowling. In addition, Toulouse CC now has the highest number of officially registered junior players in the whole of France, with approx. 26 junior members. 5 2.5 Our Grounds We play our matches at two grounds (See :! Pech David on the outskirts of Toulouse, about 15 minutes from the city centre. At an elevation of 200m it offers excellent views across the city and enables plane spotters to get up close and personal. There are mountain bike trails, horse riding and nice walks in the immediate vicinity. There are toilet and shower facilities available.! Mondonville 3 miles from Toulouse Blagnac Airport. Full changing room facilities are offered in a private sporting complex We play on an artificial plastic pitch manufactured by Flicx. It ensures a reasonable surface with minimum preparation. The playing area itself is flat and nicely maintained by the slightly confused French ground staff. 04/08/09 Page 5 of 11

6 2.6 Our Costs Toulouse CC currently charges touring teams 120 Euros per game. This covers tea during the game and also pitch preparation. This is a one off fee and does not include transport cost to and from the ground. 2.7 Our Sponsors Langdons Removals Langdons Removals have been a big help in moving our kit from UK to France. We typically play on a Sunday. 8 3.4 Travelling between clubs Hire cars are recommended and the most competitive rates can be found on the Internet. Should you wish to hire a bus/coach then we can provide a quote for you but be aware this is not the cheapest option. 4 General Information 4.1 Airports Toulouse Toulouse-Blagnac airport is 20 mins from the centre of Toulouse and nearest to our home ground. The airport run a shuttle bus every 20 minutes to the centre of town Carcassone Carcassone airport is about 45 minutes south-east of Toulouse. A hire care is recommended if using this airport Bergerac Bergerac airport is about 2 hours north-west of Toulouse. 10 6 Transport in and around Toulouse 6.1 Public transport There is a shuttle bus every 20 minutes from the airport to the centre of Toulouse. There is a metro that covers the centre of the city in addition to buses should you need them. There is no public transport to our ground. 6.2 Taxi s Around Toulouse they are plentiful, quick and convenient. Travel outside the city centre and the price shoots up with some drivers refusing to take the fare. 6.3 Car hire Most practical and convenient if you are travelling outside the city centre, playing other sides, or touring. All major firms available have offices at the airport and best rates are found on the internet. 6.4 Mini bus/ Coach hire We can arrange for a quote for you should you consider hiring a bus/driver for the team for the day. For a touring side in 2006 it cost 600 for a 20 seater for a full day. 7 About Toulouse Toulouse is situated in the centre of Southern France between the Mediterranean and Atlantic Ocean. Also known as the Ville Rose (Pink city), Toulouse is a student city with a vibrant culture and lifestyle and unspoilt in terms history and architecture. Toulouse is a perfect location as it mixes both modern values with a pride in its heritage. 7.1 Culture and areas of interest Toulouse has many areas of natural beauty and benfits from great architecture. The city is situatied on the Garonne river and benefits from the Canal du Midi. Place captial at the heart of city has many bars and is a good start point for a walk around Toulouse. The city benefits from a wealth of Romanesque architecture such as Saint Sernin church. For those wishing to look at the modern site of city there is the Cité de l'espace 04/08/09 Page 10 of 11

11 focussed on the space experience and why not spend some time at Airbus the maker of the A380 Super jumbo.
