Day Five Bratislava, Slovakia b/l/d Educational Focus: The Velvet Revolution. Excursion: Bratislava Walking Tour. Enjoy enchanting Bratislava, a mediaeval town with a rich past. Marvel at St. Martin s Cathedral, once the site of Hungarian coronations. Visit St. Michael s, the only remaining gate of the city s mediaeval fortifications. Continue to Primate s Palace, where Hungarian archbishops spent their winters and then to the picturesque Main Square. Day Six Budapest, Hungary b/l/d Excursion: Highlights of Budapest. This stunning capital was once two cities on opposite sides of the Danube, which flows through the centre of this visually spectacular city. Visit Heroes Square, the Opera House, and the Gothic-style Parliament Building. Enjoy stunning panoramic views from Fisherman s Bastion. Independent Exploration: Spend the afternoon and evening exploring on your own. Day Seven Kalocsa & Mohács, Hungary b/l/d Excursion: Historic Kalocsa and Mohács. Charming Kalocsa is where you ll find some of the most picturesque baroque architecture, including the Cathedral, the gilded Archbishop s Palace and the fabled town square. Known as the Paprika Capital, Kalocsa is renowned for the red spice found in many Hungarian dishes. Tour the only paprika museum, and buy some of this red gold for yourself. Mohács is known for two infamous famous battles that began and ended the Ottoman Empire. It left its dark past behind and is home to many churches, including the Votive Church, and interesting architecture and folk festivals. Day Eight Belgrade, Serbia b/l/d Educational Focus: Serbia Today.

This fourth century capital city on the confluence of the Sava and Danube is now a hub of architecture and culture. Marvel at the ornate Orthodox Cathedral, home to important Christian relics and step into St. Sava, a shining highlight of Belgrade s cityscape. Independent Exploration: Spend the afternoon at your leisure. Cultural Event: Tonight, enjoy a local folk show on the ship. Day Nine Iron Gate Gorge & Drobeta- Turnu Severin, Romania b/l/d Witness the amazing Iron Gate Gorge, one of Europe s most dramatic natural sites, where the Danube rushes through a narrow passage. This geological wonder is part of the boundary between Serbia and Romania. Excursion: Drobeta-Turnu Severin. The three hamlets Drobeta, Turnu and Severin that comprise this village date from Roman times. One notable remaining site is a dramatic bridgehead that once was part of the largest bridge of the Roman Empire. Day Ten Vidin & Sofia, Bulgaria b/l Today, your cruise concludes in Vidin. Excursion: The Ancient City of Vidin. One of Bulgaria s oldest towns, Vidin was settled by the Celts more than 2,000 years ago. Marvel at the historic architecture including the ninth-century Baba Vida fortress, several beautiful Renaissance buildings, the 19th-century synagogue, St. Panteleimon Church, the library of Osman Nuri Pasha and the cruciform barracks of Local Flavour: Savour a memorable lunch and stunning views of rock formations at The Rocks restaurant. This city, named for the sister of Alexander the Great, was second only to Constantinople during the Byzantine years. Today, it offers gorgeous beaches, bouzouki halls, theatres and sidewalk cafés. Walk by the White Tower, a waterfront monument, the famed Agia Sofia Square, which dates to the eighth century. Step back in time at the Rotunda, one of the world s oldest churches.
