2 ROVINJ & POLO veza između grada i igre Još dvadesetih i tridesetih godina prošlog stoljeća glasan kas kopita koji odjekuju travnatom ravnicom te precizni udarci loptice vještih jahača krasili su istarsko otočje Brijuni. Ljubav prema polu brzo se širila te je ova kraljevska igra nakon otoka osvojila i prekrasnu hrvatsku obalu. Danas se tradicija igranja pola nastavlja u istinskom dragulju Istre, gradu Rovinju. the connection between rovinj and the game Way back in the 1920s and 1930s, the loud sound of horseshoes, echoing across the grassy plains, and precise hits of the ball by skillful horsemen could be heard all over the Istrian islands Brijuni. The love for polo spread quickly, and this royal game made its way from the islands to the beautiful Croatian coast. Today, the tradition of playing polo lives on in the true jewel of Istria: the city of Rovinj. 3

3 I ovoga proljeća, od 8. do 10. lipnja 2018., rovinjska plaža Porton Biondi ugostit će neke od najboljih međunarodnih polo-ekipa na trećem po redu Rovinj Beach Polo Cupu. This spring, from 8 to 10 June the Rovinj beach Porton Biondi will host some of the best international polo teams in the third Rovinj Beach Polo Cup. 4 5

Uz pješčanu podlogu koja mijenja klasičnu travnatu te uz infrastrukturu ukupne površine 7000 četvornih metara s modernim konjušnicama i arenom veličine metara, sportski je spektakl zagarantiran. Thanks to the sandy playing surface, instead of grass, and the infrastructure which spreads over 7000 square metres and includes modern stables and a metre arena, a sporting spectacle is guaranteed. Drugi Rovinj Beach Polo Cup zasluženo je otišao u ruke Mattea Beffe, Cédrica Schwerija i Sebastiana Dawneyja. No najveću i najvažniju pobjedu ostvarili su i podijelili svi posjetitelji koji su u Rovinju proveli četiri istinski nezaboravna dana. the most important things are sportsmanship and love of the game The year 2017 was the most successful for the Miller team which beat the Veuve Clicquot team in the finals. The second Rovinj Beach Polo Cup deservedly went to Matteo Beffa, Cédric Schweri and Sebastian Dawney. As well as the official tournament programme, Rovinj Beach Polo Cup will organise a range of exclusive events at various locations around Rovinj. The best restaurants will offer a special tournament-inspired menu, while the famous international performer and DJs will entertain you in the evening. This year as well, there will be a public auditorium set up in the polo arena giving locals and tourists the chance to watch all of the exciting matches and enjoy the entertainment during the breaks.
