5 GENERAL INFORMATION Accompanying the Captains Pack is the Bermuda Yacht Brochure. We have highlighted below key facts and specifics around the regatta. TRAVELLING TO BERMUDA By Aeroplane Bermuda is a 90 minute non-stop flight from New York, less than a 3 hour flight from most U.S. East Coast travel hubs and a 7 hour flight from London. There are daily nonstop flights to Bermuda from the U.S., Canada and the U.K. L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA) is located at the east end of the island in St George s Parish. Additionally there is a private airport service for business and leisure travellers who choose to travel to Bermuda via executive jet: Cedar Aviation Services 66 Southside Road, St. Georges, GE 01 Tel: fbo@cedaraviation.com Arriving by yacht It is advisable to file details of your voyage, vessel description, safety equipment and crew information with RCC Bermuda/ Bermuda Radio prior to commencing your voyage to Bermuda. Check their website, for a standard pre-arrival form that you can complete online, or contact them tel +1 (441) , for more information about this initiative. Your vessel and crew data is captured in a database for easy retrieval in the event that you unexpectedly need help from Search and Rescue agencies. If you have not pre-filed, Bermuda Radio will request this same information when you initially make contact on the VHF radio (channel 16) as you approach Bermuda. Getting around Bermuda The usual modes of transportation are available, however please note that there are no rental cars on the island. We recommend pre-booking a taxi or minivan from the airport, as buses do not allow passengers to board with luggage. Tel: For larger groups, you can hire a minibus and we recommend: Bermuda Hosts Tel: Ferry service There are four ferry routes around the island, providing easy access to Hamilton, St George s and the Royal Naval Dockyard which is close to the America s Cup Race Village. The clearance facility is located at the eastern end of Ordnance Island. Additionally, there is a permanent satellite YRC at the Hamilton Princess (only for use by vessels which have pre-arranged to berth at the Hamilton Princess marina) and from spring 2017, there will be a permanent YRC at Caroline Bay Marina (for clearance by any vessel) and a temporary YRC at Dockyard for the duration of the America s Cup 2017 (for clearance by any vessel). 6 Yacht Services In preparation for your arrival and whilst in Bermuda, we have listed below some advice and key contacts. Yachts registered and berthed as part of the America s Cup Superyacht Program can contact BWA Yachting for assistance in most matters and particularly as part of their concierge service. Bermuda Yachting Services provide local advice as they are used to looking after superyachts, particularly in St George s, but also elsewhere on the island. Bermuda Yachting Services can also provide a full concierge service. BERMUDA YACHT SERVICES: Mark Soares Tel: info@bdayacht.com Customs, Shipping and Logistics There are several rules for entry when arriving by private vessel, including Immigration, Customs and Health Clearance from HM Customs. More information can be found within the Yacht Brochure provided with the Captain s Pack. Alternatively, BWA Yachting, official partners of the 35th America s Cup, can offer a concierge service which includes dealing with immigration and customs. Please contact Laura Esteve for more information. Important: CAPS ID NUMBER: To be able to ship equipment, containers and any items into and out of Bermuda, each yacht must be in possession of a CAPS ID Number (also referred to as a Trader ID) to be able to clear and manage customs and claim duty relief. Each participating yacht should register for a CAPS ID by completing the form available online at: You will receive your CAPS ID number within 48 hours and must be given to your logistics company and customs clearance agency. Letter of Undertaking The Collector of Customs has agreed to waive all requirements for monetary security for vessels and other goods being temporarily imported into Bermuda for use by participating yachts of the America s Cup Superyacht Regatta for the purposes of the holding of the event. 6 In substitution for security, each participating yacht should give a letter of undertaking. Please arrange for an authorised person (i.e. an officer of the company) to sign the undertaking and a scan of the document to: customs@gov.bm ; and, dlema@gov.bm. To receive a template for the letter of undertaking, please contact emily.graham@boatinternationalmedia.com For the avoidance of doubt, this undertaking, once given, is intended to cover temporary imports by participating yachts for the entirety of that event, without the need to give a separate undertaking for each and every temporary importation. The letter of undertaking is only applicable to temporarily imported goods that are utilized in the event. If a letter of undertaking is not put in place, customs may demand that monetary security be placed on a BCD by BCD basis. There are logistics agencies who can provide a fully managed service for import and export for Bermuda; we would recommend the following: GAC PINDAR PETERS AND MAY Customs would recommend that each yacht liaise with a Bermuda-based customs clearance agent or ship services agent and make arrangements to utilize their local address. The applicant can then provide their overseas mailing address in the appropriate space provided. For alternative berthing and independent bookings, see below: CAROLINE BAY MARINA, SOUTHAMPTON: The marina can accommodate yachts up to 200 feet plus and each yacht can process their Customs and Immigration clearance at Caroline Bay, which is International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Certified. ST GEORGE S: There are 16 superyacht berths at St George s Marina. The marina office and lounge has bathrooms and free WiFi and is walking distance to shops, bars and restaurants. There is a ferry to the Royal Naval Dockyard and the America s Cup Village. The concierge/agent services are also included in berth rates. During the regatta we will provide on the water medical support.
