3 II GENERAL ELECTION, 1979 PREFACE The term of the Council of the Northwest Territories which had been elected in 1975 came to an end March 31, Writs ordering a general electi were directed to be issued July 3, 1979 and to be made returnable October 31, Nominati day at the general electi was Mday, August 27, One candidate having been elected by acclamati in the electoral district of Great Slave East, a poll was held October I, 1979 in each of the remaining twenty-e electoral districts. The first return was published in the Canada Gazette September 26, 1979 and the last returns were published November 15, JEAN-MARC HAMEL, Chief Electoral Officer of Canada. Ottawa, January 198.
