1 School Transport & Travel Guide

2 Welcome Map Five Star Service Dear Parent, Our modern fleet of minibuses is operated in house by Bromley High Thank you for taking the time to look at our School Transport and Travel Guide for the academic year. This is our first such guide, and we have produced it in order to communicate the wide range of travel options available to girls at Bromley High School. New for this year is our interactive journey planning website for our school bus service, available at bromleyhigh.vectare.co.uk. This allows you to enter your postcode, find your closest bus stop, and see bespoke travel information for your daughter s journey to school. The website also allows you to book a journey 24/7 from anywhere in the world; for morning journeys bookings are open until 19:00 the day before travel, and for afternoon journeys, bookings are open until the vehicle departs (except for the late bus). This means, if you are running late from work, or your plans have changed at the last minute, your daughter can travel on the school bus service. For all of our school bus services, the fares are simply added to your ParentPay account meaning girls are not required to carry cash. We have introduced a number of new school bus services for this academic year in response to parental feedback. We now offer direct services from Crystal Palace, Dunton Green and Woolwich in addition to our existing services from Blackheath, Greenwich and Shirley. All services have revised routes and timetables from September Services 1 and 5 will now offer a shuttle service between Bickley railway station and Bromley High School, and our school buses also stop at many other railway stations. We are introducing a late bus service from September 2018, which will operate on a more flexible basis in response to passenger demand. You will be able to book this on an ad hoc basis, and the best route will be calculated every evening. Late buses will depart at 17:30 every evening, with one bus serving the area to the north of Bromley High School and one bus serving the area to the south (subject to demand). All of our school minibuses are maintained to a high standard and equipped with safety belts at every seat. We use friendly, DBS checked drivers who have all attained the MIDAS minibus driving qualification. I hope that you are able to find a travel solution that works for you and your daughter. If you need any further assistance, or you would like to discuss travel options from areas not currently served by our school bus network, please contact us via the school transport website and we will be pleased to assist. I would like to wish your daughter a pleasant and successful academic year. Kind regards, Jonathan Crisp Director of Finance and Operations School. We take great pride in our fleet, with all vehicles maintained to the highest standards, giving you peace of mind that your daughter is travelling to and from school in safety and comfort. We use dedicated drivers who work on the same route every day, so they can get to know their passengers. All drivers receive specialist minibus driver training and are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. We offer a wide range of different tickets on our school bus service. From a single fare for a one off journey through to return passes for the entire academic year, there are options for everybody s travel arrangements. You can book tickets at any time throughout the year, so its simple to book an extra journey or arrange travel for a visiting friend. Our school bus network consists of 50+ bus stops, and we also have direct links from 30+ railway stations. We want to offer you a travel solution that works for you and your daughter, so if you need any assistance working out the best route to school then please do get in touch. It takes less than 30 seconds to find your nearest bus stop online, and booking takes only a few minutes, so all of the information you need to arrange travel for your daughter really is at your fingertips. Visit bromleyhigh.vectare.co.uk to locate your nearest bus stop and book your daughter s travel.

Arrangements for pupils journeys to and from school are the responsibility of their parents. To assist with discharging this responsibility, Bromley High School provides a School Bus Service. 3. Transport on the School Bus Service must be arranged in advance and is paid for through the ParentPay account. 4. Bookings on the School Bus Service are nonrefundable in the event of a pupil failing to travel. Regular travel for fewer than ten journeys per week must be booked for a full academic year, and the days of travel must be consistent from week to week. 5. Bookings are to be made online via bromleyhigh.vectare.co.uk. 6. Each pupil for whom an online form has been submitted will be added to a bus list detailing the service they travel on, their bus stop and what travel has been paid for. Their name will appear on a list, which will be checked by the driver. 7. It will be the parent s responsibility to inform the School via the Contact Us form on the website if they no longer wish for their child to use the School Bus Service. One full term s notice must be given by a parent prior to the removal of a pupil from the School Bus Service (apart from an ad-hoc journey). 8. If you wish for your child to use the School Bus Service on an ad hoc basis, or to vary the details of their bus travel as a one-off, you should book travel via the website prior to travel. A charge of 1.50, 4.00, or per single journey is levied for individual trips depending on location. 9. No pupil is permitted to travel on the School Bus Service if not pre booked for that bus, as they will not be insured to travel. Other arrangements for journeys to and from School must be made by them or their parents. 10. Pupils must travel to and from Bromley High School in full school uniform or a full school tracksuit (except on approved non-unifrom days). 11. Pupils should be at the bus stop 5 minutes before the scheduled time of departure, to ensure they don t miss the bus. 12. Good conduct is required at all times. Bullying, shouting, use of foul language, dropping litter, playing music, or any other misbehaviour is strictly forbidden. 13. Except when embarking or disembarking, all passengers must remain seated with their seatbelts fastened correctly. 14. Whilst on a School Bus, all passengers must accept without question the authority of a member of Bromley High School staff, transport company official, school prefect or bus monitor, who may ask them to obey any reasonable instruction such as to pick up litter, desist from certain actions or to move to a different seat. 15. Failure to comply with these conditions may result in disciplinary action, including temporary or permanent withdrawal of permission to use the School Bus Service. 16. Bromley High School aims for 95% of journeys to operate within the transport industry window of tolerance of one minute early to five minutes late, however timings may vary due to traffic conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Drivers will not wait past the scheduled departure time.

4 Bikes Girls are welcome to cycle to school, with bicycle racks situated just behind the science block at the rear of the site. It is recommended that bikes are secured using a suitable lock. Cars Girls may drive to and from school once written permission has been received from both their parents and Mrs Bird (Head of Sixth Form). Driving is only permitted once girls have obtained a full driving licence. Girls are not permitted to drive or park on the Bromley High School site; they should park considerately off site without causing inconvenience to local residents. Further details are available in the Sixth Form Drivers Policy, copies of which are available from Mrs Bird. Taxis The school s recommended taxi suppliers are Cannon Cars of Bromley and Bromley South Cars.
