After completing a Basic Parenting Class, mothers are allowed monthly visits with their children in the homelike setting of the MATCH Center. Chestnut Street Siler City, NC Helping new immigrants transition into the local culture, providing church services, Bible study, a food pantry, and a clothes closet for the Hispanic community. NEEDS: canned foods, coats for children, newborn baby clothes, health and school kits.. COMMON THREADS Jeanne Scott wesjeanne4@ec.rr.com A ministry of compassion whose goal is to provide happy colorful pillowcases to those needing comfort. Common Threads no longer provides the supplies, but districts/units can go to Pine Valley UMC, Wilmington, to make pillowcases. PROJECT AGAPE We are looking for 1000 people who will contribute just $100 a year to underwrite the North Carolina Conference share of Project AGAPE. The money pays salaries for AGAPE staff in Armenia, office and transportation expenses in our work of relief and Christian response, and salary support for a priest and doctor in Berdzor one of the most impoverished places on earth. Your donation will make a difference. NEEDS: Canned and staple foods, small household articles, furniture, blankets, health kits, school kits, layettes, wheelchairs, canes with prongs, walkers with wheels, adult disposable diapers, adult and children's clothing (folded or on hangers and in season), office supplies. GOOD SAMARITAN INN OF DURHAM RESCUE MISSION 507 E. Knox Street Durham, NC David Cash, Volunteer Coordinator ext Women and mothers with children find a safe shelter with three meals per day. Clean clothes and day care to age 12, vocational training, GED, instruction in housekeeping and parenting skills. Employment assistance and financial planning are available along with Bible based counseling to overcome addictions. NEEDS: toiletries, diapers, undergarments of all sizes (i.e. adults and children), canned goods, non-perishable items, health and hygiene kits, and layettes. Trinity Ave, Durham NC (919) The Diaper Bank of NC has 3 locations: Triangle-Main Branch Greater Triad Branch Lower Cape Fear Branch All should be contacted through the above information. Our purpose: To ensure that families with babies and children living in poverty have an adequate supply of diapers. To raise community awareness that basic human needs include diapers and that these needs are not being met for children living in poverty. To advocate for policy reform so that diapers are included in the definition of and provision for the basic human needs of families. To create a model that can be shared, replicated and adopted by all counties in NC. Providing support and guidance to other NC Diaper Banks. NEEDS: all sizes diapers (adults, too), feminine hygiene products, birthing kits, willing workers to bundle diapers. **Not a funded project CHURCH WORLD SERVICE-RDU Jourdi Bosey Community Resource Coordinator cwsrdu@gmail.com A local refugee resettlement program assisting newly arrived refugees. Helping with housing, acquiring jobs, connecting with community resources, learning English are all services we provide. Help with legal services to reconnect families, acquire Green Cards and become US Citizens. NEEDS: kitchenware, bedding, bath items, furniture, volunteers and donations. 5 IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please check UMCOR's website for current needs within each kit as these sometimes change during the year., School Kit All Items must be new: 1 pair blunt rounded tip scissors 3 pads (or loose leaf) 8 ½ x 11 ruled paper 1 ruler with centimeter markings 1 hand held pencil sharpener 6 unsharpened pencils with erasers 1 eraser 2 1/2" 1 box 24-count crayons (ONLY 24) Place in a new backpack for distribution in the United States. or Place in 14 x 16 inch cloth bag for other distribution. Sewing Kit 3 continuous yards of fabric-cotton or cotton blend only. No heavy duty, corduroy, knit, etc., no patriotic, religious, holiday, camouflage, or military patterned fabric please. 1 pair scissors fabric scissors only 1 package needles hand needles in original packaging only 1 spool thread-medium to large spool, no travel kit thread 5-8 buttons - 5/8 size or larger, no loose buttons 1 plastic bag-one-gallon size sealable bags only. Wrap new sewing notions in the fabric and place in a one-gallon plastic bag and seal. The contents of all kits are the same as kits requested by the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). For up to date information, see their web page: Kits may be taken to agencies on the Project Sheet (call first for need) or brought to any conference or district UMW meeting or distributed in local communities. Each unit will provide at least three (3) school, layette or sewing kits to at least one of the agencies on the Project Sheet or to a local agency to be counted on the Mission Today Report Form. Layette Kit 6 cloth diapers 2 shirts or onesies 2 baby (not full size) washcloths 2 gowns or sleepers 2 diaper pins with protective plastic closure 1 sweater or jacket with front opening 2 receiving blankets (not crib size) Bundle all new items (don t wash anything) inside one of the receiving blankets and secure with diaper pins. Birthing Kit 1 small bar soap in original packaging 1 pair thin gloves (surgical, latex or thin rubber) 1 square yard of clear plastic sheeting, must be 4 mil. thick 3 12-inch long pieces of cotton string, must be clean, secure them by bundling and tying them together NO YARN 1 single-edge razor blade in paper or cardboard wrapping 2 receiving blankets-no thermal or fleece 28 x 28 inches to 32 x 32 inches 1 plastic bag one gallon size sealable only Fold the plastic sheeting and blankets so they will fit easily into the plastic bag. Lay the loose items on top of the blankets and plastic sheeting. Slide items into the plastic bag. Squeeze as much air out of the bag as possible and then seal it. Hygiene Kit hand towel-15x25 to 17x27. Microfiber, (kitchen towels not acceptable) Washcloth 1 comb 1 metal nail file or nail clippers 1 bath soap 3 oz and larger (no Ivory or Jergens soap due to moisture content) 1 toothbrush 6 bandaids 1 gallon plastic bag $1 to purchase toothpaste. Please write one check or cash for all kits donated.

Dust Masks (one 5 pack) 2 pair latex gloves or non-latex kitchen gloves 1 pair work gloves 24 bag roll of heavy-duty trash bags (33-45 gallon) 1 insect repellant spray (if aerosol, cans must have protective caps 1 air freshener 8 or 9 oz. (if aerosol, cans must have protective caps Shipping donation of $1.50 per bucket; write one check for all buckets donated. Purchase all liquids in plastic bottles.
