2 SwissModul WIEGAND SwissModul storage or transport? The comprehensive market and product knowledge of WIEGAND gained over many years was of crucial significance in the new development of SwissModul trays. Our engineers focused on optimizing the space available as well as on important issues like hygiene and stockmanagement. The bases of the SwissModul trays have been extended, being now up to 10 mm longer and wider than other similar systems. Ultra-modern production methods are applied in order to guarantee the required precision and quality. 2

3 Kanban reduction of stock and of tied up capital The Kanban-System (Kanban = card in Japanese) was developed in 1947 by Toyota. The goal of Kanban Systems is the reduction of stock and therefore also a reduction of tied up capital. It should also give greater flexibility with regard to changes in required quantities as well as precisely defined storage processes. Nowadays it is impossible to think about industry without the demand-driven Kanban system. Storage with system Secured supply for wards Medicines and consumable goods for patients must always be available, whenever required. Supply shortfalls lead to express orders causing stocks to become larger in the central stores and in the pharmacy. Fearing supply shortfall, some articles are stocked even on the wards. The use of a Kanban system for ward supply is recommendable. The right quantity for each article is continuously optimised thanks to consumption statistics in central stores and pharmacies. CuraMedic software can be used as a significant support to these procedures. Mr. A. Rüegg, director of the central supply store of Lachen hospital: «Thanks to the introduction of the new software supported storage in the Radiology Department we were able to reduce the stocks in the central store by an amount of CHF 80,000. The value of goods in the cupboards was also reduced. In just four cupboards, without considering the expensive film and contrast material, the value of goods was able to be cut by CHF 3,200.» The nursing staff are focused on the patients it is the supply-chain assistant who concentrates on storage and distribution processes. 3

4 SwissModul WIEGAND Storage with KanbanBoxes A good solution for wards is a system which shows the reorder point of an article, without extra effort for the nursing staff. This can be achieved through the division in two different compartments or boxes for reserve articles and those being used. As soon as the articles in use are finished, the white article card is removed for ordering. The remaining yellow card shows that the order is being processed. Consumable goods clearly stored Flexible divisions of trays and baskets allow a space saving and clear storage of different goods. Labels and Label holders fit everywhere thanks to various sizes and types. There are individually placeable Dividers for all trays and baskets. 2 units per article Kanban-System with PharmaBoxes on tablets or in the SwissModul trays Once the PharmaBox has been filled, the pharmacist labels it with the drug name, the galenic form and the strength. Other information such as ward ID, supply quantity or barcodes can also be added. Both large PharmaBoxes and small ones can be neatly stored in SwissModuls. There are always two boxes per drug. Storage solutions of personal medicines The flexibly divisible SwissModuls are very convenient for the space saving storage of patients individual medicines. Treston containers on shelves need almost twice this storage space. 4

19 Shelving profiles for compact storage...that s the way to increase space! SwissModuls can be inserted into WIEGAND Shelving profiles every 30 mm. Even the smallest gaps still offer useful storage possibilities and increase the storage space by up to 50 %, compared to conventional shelving. Shelving profiles are easy to mount. Due to prefabricated cut edges, the profiles can be easily shortened to the correct height needed. User-friendly with perfect use of space A specifically constructed stop-function at the Shelving profiles, in combination with a small stopper placed on the rear edge of trays, prevents extracted trays from falling out. The trays can be pulled out of their Shelving profiles in an inclined position which allows a free view of the goods and quick and easy access to even the rearmost articles. 22 SwissModul WIEGAND Heavy loads are no challenge for our Extension Frames SystemLine extension frames consist of two precision double pull-outs mounted on double ball bearings with connectors. Together they build up a stable frame for the insertion of modules and baskets. Furthermore, the frame has a stabilising effect, allowing a bearing capacity of 35 kg which is significantly higher than having two independent extensions. 22

23 WIEGAND quality in every detail With their special system of holes, SystemLine raster rails allow extension frames to be mounted and fixed every 30 mm. The interior accessories of a cupboard can therefore be inserted and removed without the slightest effort. Moreover, the WIEGAND system allows a smooth exchange of trays and baskets between cupboards and our FlexLine Trolleys. This unique technique prevents extracted trays suddenly coming loose and falling out unexpectedly. Similar to the mechanism of a pen, you have to push in order to release the Extension Frame. By pushing with both hands the released frame back into its original position, the retention holds back the tray again securely. 26
