We ve been working hard to generate innovative themes, create new learning opportunities, and find new travel locations. Our camps are fun and engaging while also fostering the creativity and critical thinking that builds science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills. As always, our goal is to provide the best possible camp experience. The past year has been very exciting at the Aquarium! We were voted 3rd best aquarium in the nation in a USA Today 10 Best Reader s Choice poll. In October 2018, we opened our dynamic Waves of Wonder gallery, featuring the Heart of the Sea habitat. This newly redesigned area highlights our three big conservation focuses: coral, sharks, and sea turtles. We greatly increased our capacity for sea turtle rescues, with the opening of our Sea Turtle Rescue Facility at our Center for Conservation in Apollo Beach. Our lobby touch experience is also being reimagined in 2019! As you may have noticed from the cover, this year s feature animals are seahorses, pipefish, and sea dragons! Together, they make up the family Syngnathidae. These awesome creatures can be found in shallow, temperate waters around the world, including Tampa Bay. Their bodies are covered in special bony armor plates for protection. Seahorses and their cousins are also unique because males carry the fertilized eggs! While seahorses may be small and slow moving, they play an important role in their ecosystems. Discover more about these cool critters during the summer while we spot them up close and personal in the Aquarium. Check out our new camp themes and travel destinations. Each week offers a different theme, early drop-off and late pick-up at no extra cost, lunch options, and guaranteed fun! We hope you ll join us, and let our camps be the best part of your summer. Tots programs are offered in fall, winter, and spring, on select Wednesday afternoons. TRAVELING PROGRAMS We offer various programs throughout the year both at the Aquarium and around Tampa Bay. Many include LIVE animals! From game shows to beach animals, we have programs for all ages that are perfect for schools, clubs, and other organizations! BIRTHDAY PARTIES AT THE AQUARIUM We offer indoor and outdoor parties. An Aquarium party includes a cake, party decorations, paper goods, a designated birthday space, and more. SCOUTS Gather your group to fulfill badge requirements at the Aquarium. Workshops can be scheduled for Saturdays or Sundays or during other pre-arranged times if space and instructional staff are available. HOMESCHOOL The Aquarium offers monthly homeschool science classes during the school year. Each class uses inquiry-based learning and handson experiments and activities to explore science. Classes are 60 minutes for 3-5 and 6-8 year olds and 90 minutes for ages Ask about EcoField Trips! SLEEPOVERS Bring your scout, church, school or club to the Aquarium for an evening filled with fun! Dissect a sea creature, go behind the scenes, see animals up close, and more! Prices vary according to group size. IMMERSIVE AQUARIUM PROGRAMS HEART OF THE SEA SWIM A 20-minute swim in the Aquarium s newest aquatic habitat for guests 6 years old and above. SHARK SWIM This program includes a 10-minute Swim with the Fishes in our coral reef habitat, followed by a 20-minute guided swim in our shark habitat! Shark Swim is for guests 9 years old and above.
