2 President s Notes Hello Everyone, As hard as it is to believe it s JUNE and the car show is just a couple of weeks away. Before I get into more on the month a quick thanks to Kevin Miller for taking over the Newsletter duties. As of this writing Mike was still in town, but retired from his duties with the club. Hopefully, he ll be here for the monthly meeting and the show. As for the show, here s the rundown and needs before June 9 th : June 1..monthly meeting at Red Zone. You can bring ditty bag items/door prizes to the meeting or to the bagging night. Please make the meeting so that we can work out final details on show and duties, etc. June 4..At Wayland at 2pm to map out parking and location for food vendor(s). This is a car show committee/officers meeting, but anyone is welcome. June 9 bagging night at Red Zone, 6 til?. This is not a meeting, but a night to get all of our giveaway items into bags for distribution at the show to entrants. Please come earlier if you plan to eat at the café. As a member please provide a door prize, either by purchase($10-15 max) or from a business. These will go to show entrants. We also need any king of giveaway item(s) for our ditty bags; pens, pencils, note pads, key chains, anything that you can get for free from local businesses. Please remember NOT to get items from businesses that compete with our sponsors, ie, Messer, Auto Zone, etc. We can always use help during the show with parking, registration, setting up audio with Chuck and Neil and other items. 3 A Major Sponsor of the Lubbock Mustang Club Kevin s Thoughts I want to start with thanking Mike Cochran for allowing me to jump into the fire by taking over the newsletter while being a relatively new member.what was he thinking?? I encourage feedback for the newsletters so don t be bashful, or hold your peace. The BIG day is coming! June 10 th will be my first annual club sponsored car show and I m excited. As with any event, success depends on the involvement of its members and this show is no exception. I encourage everyone to pitch in and help wherever they can to make this another great event year! I hope everyone had a great and SAFE Memorial Day weekend! The turnout for the Blue Ribbon Rally was good considering the VERY cold weather and drizzle that day. Below are some photos of the rally. 5 June 2017 Meeting Minutes Neal whistled the meeting to order at 7:05 PM, April 6, 2017, John Robison presiding. Larry and Deana (our secretary) were present, but did not take my pad and pen away. Deana is having more surgery, prayers are requested and appreciated. Looking forward to y all returning. Guest Kimberly Cantu, owner of Sugarista was introduced as a Car Show Vendor. She made a good first impression with the cookie samples she passed around. Note to those absent, shoulda been there. New members Andy Stockwell and Dave Finchum were introduced. New merchandise ideas were discussed, Mugs like John s and Flags were the ideas we will get prices for. April minutes were approved as posted in the newsletter with an almost unanimous vote. (yeah you know who voted no) Treasurer Ronnie Brown was not present, balance in the bank is not known. Hmm that didn t sound very good did it. Not complaining, I don t want that job either. Thanks to those hardy souls who helped park cars for the April 29 Blue Ribbon Rally, Car and Bike Show in the Depot District. MCA update by Dennis. Bricks are for sale for the National Mustang Museum sidewalk. See the website mustangownersmuseum.com The Car Show t-shirt order sheet was passed around. Two best of show awards will be 15 tall Texas shaped hardwood plaques made by Steve Paul were previewed and approved by the club. Chuck reminded everyone we need door prize and ditty bag stuff, planning for 200 entries. Jeff (Carpet Boy) Kruger reported Posters, Judges and potties are done. June 9 stuff ditty bags at Red Zone. Next meeting bring door prizes and other stuff. Back 40 Grill will be a food vendor at the show. A track day was discussed. The Idalou track has been redone, and now is a 1/8 mile track. A run for time event was discussed, no organized competitive events are planned (we don t want to upset some of our classic car insurers). Respectfully Tommy The reluctant temp scribe
