On February 9 and 17, 2017, Mountain Valley submitted responses to the data requests. Mountain Valley submits herein a supplemental response to a data request. 2 Mountain Valley Pipeline, LLC Mountain Valley Pipeline Project Response to Post-Draft Environmental Impact Statement Environmental Information Request Issued January 27, 2017 Land Use, Transportation, Recreation, and Visual Resources 5. Utilizing the most correct route of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail (ANST, Forest Trail #1) is critical to visual analyses. Provide current ANST centerline data that is available from the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC), which must be utilized to meet the FS criteria. Obtain FS approval on the data and any updated maps and figures before filing the data with FERC. Response Submitted February 17, 2017: Mountain Valley downloaded the latest file for the Appalachian National Scenic Trail from the ATC website on January 30, Several small changes to the dataset had occurred since the previous version obtained from the ATC website; however, no changes occurred at the proposed crossing location. On February 6, 2017, Mountain Valley provided the latest data to the FS and requested confirmation of the data. On February 10, 2017, the FS responded to Mountain Valley s and stated that the FS could not confirm the data until after February 27, A copy of the FS s response is included as Attachment DR4 Land Use 5. Mountain Valley will file the data with FERC after the FS provides confirmation. Supplemental Response Submitted February 22, 2017: In response to Accession from the ATC, Mountain Valley contacted the ATC and requested shapefiles of the ANST in the Project area. The ATC responded to Mountain Valley s request and provided a link to the base file for the entire ANST. The ATC advised Mountain Valley to run [the base file] by the USFS for approval and offered to work with the USFS and Mountain Valley to identify updates that have occurred in the section [Mountain Valley is] interested in since our master file was last updated. A copy of the exchange is included as Attachment DR4 Land Use 5a. Mountain Valley will confirm the data with the FS as suggested and also incorporate any minor local adjustments not on the publically-available website. You can access the best available center-line for the Appalachian National Scenic Trail here. Let me know if you have trouble with the download. That's the best base file for the 2,186 mile trail. Once you can access that, its best to run it by the USFS for approval. At that point, I can work with them and your office if you would like to identify updates that have occurred in the section you are interested in since our master file was last updated. The AT is not really a static thing and there are significant changes in that section we have recently opened or are that are ongoing. We improve the Trail and relocate the trail each year, that's why we publish an updated mileage annually. Thanks for your interest, I look forward to working with you.
