The meteorologists assure us that warmer weather will get here sometime. In the mean time, this is the time of year when all sorts of information crosses my desk. This past month there were two items I thought were worth sharing here. Both specifically said please share with your members. The first item is a letter from the Geneva Historical Society a portion of which follows. 1 Continued on page 3

2 Secretary s Minutes APRIL 2016 MINUTES The April 20, 2016 meeting was held at the Phelps Community Center. It was opened at 7:30PM by our President Dick Stearns and began with the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. 24 members were present. Our speaker from the Community Center forgot about us. Hopefully we can get her to come back at a later time. SECRETARY'S REPORT - A motion was made by Rusty Smith to accept the March minutes. Seconded by Pam Heald. Motion carried. TREASURER'S REPORT - Rita Canavan, Treasurer, reported on our accounts. A motion was made by Rusty Smith to accept this report. Seconded by Joel Neal. Motion carried. BOARD OF DIRECTOR'S REPORT - Matt Canavan had nothing to report. The Website needs a software upgrade. Other than that, there is nothing new with it. SHOW COMMITTEE - Matt had talked to George O'Neil this morning. They will be back for the next meeting. Dave and Barb Dorf are going to document what they do for the Car Show. Joel Neal will coordinate the catering for the Saturday of the Car Show. MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE - Hank Goellner, Chairman, is getting ready to publish the 2016 Roster. Let him know of any corrections or additions in the roster and is still taking dues. Lars Anderson had ed a new form for membership in AACA. Hank read a letter of resignation as Membership Chairman as of October. Any one interested, please let him or Dick Stearns know. CONCERNS FOR MEMBERS AND ANY COR- RESPONDENCES RECEIVED - Jim Duffy fell and is in Strong Memorial Hospital. He isn't doing well. BUY SELL OR TRADE - None OLD BUSINESS - Dick Stearns and Joel Neal went to the Early Ford V8 Club Flea Market on April 3 rd. Didn't get much response for new members. NEW BUSINESS - If anyone knows of a speaker for the meetings, let Pete Empson know. UPCOMING EVENTS FOR 2016: To be listed in the Headliner. President Dick thanked the refreshment committee which consisted of Rita Canavan and Isabel Potter. Refreshments for the next meeting on May 18 th will be Donna Goellner and Amy Ressue to be held at Phelps Community Center. The Door Prize winner was Norma Herendeen and Dave Lentz. The 50/50 winner was Steve Heald. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00PM by a motion from Rusty Smith and seconded by Rita Canavan. Respectfully submitted by: Donna Goellner, Secretary Looking Ahead We have been invited by Leah Hamilton, Phelps Library Manager, to take a tour of a very unique facility in the Library during our May meeting. It is known as the STEAM lab and no, it is not about boiling water. I am told there are only about 16 such facilities in the country. I had the privilege of touring the lab after our last meeting and was impressed. The acronym: Science Technology Engineering Arts Math 2

President s Message continued from page 1 Geneva Historical Society s 1916 Model T Ford We were very interested in the memories Amy Ressue shared with us at the March 16 th meeting and we fairly new members would be interested to learn a little history from our other long-time members. Recently we have emphasized recruiting new members; however, we all know that our long-time members are the heart of the club. 7 President s Message continued from page 3 Recently some of our members lent a hand to the Historical Society to get the old girl running again. Also of particular note, this truck was purchased as a chassis only and the body was built by Geneva Wagon Works. The second item is from Dick Senges and though I am unaware of any of our members having any historic military vehicles, if this idea works, it will add another area of interest to the Geneseo War Bird Show. There appears to be interest in displaying historic military vehicles at the Geneseo Air Show, Geneseo, NY, July 9 th and 10 th, This display would be in a separate area away from the military re-enactors. The military re-enactors in period uniforms and MVs would be encamped as usual. Military uniforms are NOT required for the separate MV display area. Membership in the MVPA, FLC, ESW or NYPENNN is NOT required. This separate display of MVs has been approved by the management of the Geneseo Air Show. The management would like to know how many and what kind of vehicles would be displayed. See everyone at the May 18 th meeting Owner John Mulford Cover photo 1931 Model A Ford My uncle bought the 1931 Model A Ford in It was a Sears and Roebuck company vehicle at the time. He used it to commute to Rochester to teach school. He then gave it to his mother, my grandmother, to drive. She traded it to a neighbor boy for some work in the late 40's much to my dismay. The neighbor pretty much destroyed it and left it in the cow pasture to rot. I was able to trade it for a coupe in It was a pile of parts by then. It took a number of years from that point to restore it. I still have fond memories of riding in it, with my grandmother, as kid. 7
