5 THE LINN COUNTY FAIR There s no place like the Fair! June 27th - July 2nd This year the Linn County Fair will be celebrating their 130th anniversary. Join the festivities of the Linn County Fair and become part of its rich history. The Fair is a six day extravaganza of entertainment, competition and exhibits. Come experience the fun of a great county fair! Check out the static exhibits, petting zoo, livestock shows, kids activities, and, of course, we can t go to the fair without trying out some fried food! Take in the Grand Stand shows every night! Some of the shows include: Mutton Bustin, Mega Trucks Freestyle Show, bull riding and a concert by Lonestar, truck & tractor pull, Motocross BMX, and chuck wagon races. 6 MAN + VACATION MANCATION MEN ONLY $ Join me & our host Andy Petersen (WMT On-Air Personality) On Saturday, July 21, 2018 for our first ever Mancation! Ladies don t you want to get your man out of the house for a day?! It appears the men need a little more coaxing to get them to stop in and sign up for the Mancation, so I have added some details of the day so it is not a surprise! Mancation Itinerary... Our day will begin at a wildlife refuge where we will enjoy a 5-mile narrated tour on our coach to view the beauty of the tall grass prairie--home to a wide diversity of prairie wildlife including mammals, birds and insects. Our tour will take us directly through the bison and elk enclosure. We may also see many unique grassland bird species. Bring your camera for some amazing photo opportunities! Next we will head to Prairie Meadows Racetrack where we will enjoy lunch in the Champions Clubhouse while learning all about the jockeys, horses, track and how to place bets. We will then have some hands on experience of betting and watching live racing. Then we are off to the American Dream Machines to learn all about buying and taking care of old classic cars including a Rock and Roll Shop Tour to see these beautiful vintage cars being restored. We can t have a men s outing without a Brewery tour! We will enjoy a delicious dinner and beer tasting before heading back home. One last thing. For anyone who is brave enough we will be holding a Fear Factor Food Challenge! Whether you are single, dating or married you are welcome to join us for this awesome day of male bonding. I encourage you to invite a friend to share the day with you! For any man who signs up for the Mancation stop in my office to Spin the Wheel for a prize! Finally, a trip that s built just for men!

7 WHERE IOWA STARTED $ per person August 26-27, 2018 A TOP NOTCH EXPERIENCE As Iowa s oldest city, Dubuque is full of historic sites. This tour will give you a glimpse of the places and the faces that shaped Dubuque into the vibrant city it is today. Our exciting and educational two-day experience will include a visit to Saint Luke s United Methodist Church, Fenelon Place Elevator, Historic Progressive Dinner (3 Locations), National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, Betty Jane Candies, lunch at the port and a stay at the Hotel Julien Dubuque. You will also have the opportunity to tour the USS LST 325 (the last remaining LST from WWII). This LST (Landing Ship, Tank) is an amphibious vessel designed to land battle-ready tanks, troops and supplies directly onto enemy shores. Ships of this type proved to be enormously useful during times of both war and peace. Today this ship is permanently docked in Evansville, IN. Once a year it travels to destinations throughout the United States for people to board and tour. This will be the first time ever the ship will be this far north! The doors will not open until 8:30 AM. Enjoy all the free popcorn you can eat and all the pop or coffee you can drink! The concession stand is also open to purchase anything else you might like to have. At 9:15 we will have announcements, door prizes and a synopsis of the movies being shown that day with a chance to change theatres for the movie of your choice, and to get those refills before we start the show! NEXT MOVIE DAY: Tuesday, August 21, 2018 SEMINAR Recognizing Caregiver Stress & Understanding Your Options Tuesday, June 5th at 2:00 pm Elmcrest Country Club Join the Connect Club for this informational and educational seminar with Angie McClure. Angie has been working with aging adults for over 16 years. Her passion for educating families as well as other healthcare professionals motivates her as she travels across Iowa and consults with nursing homes, memory care communities and assisted living centers. Her experience in long-term nursing home care, assisted living and dementia care is invaluable to those wanting to learn more. As we age, our role as spouse, child, sibling, or friend changes and often evolves into a caregiver role. During this presentation, Angie will provide insight on caregiver stress. Members will have an opportunity to take a caregiver stress test and, as a group, will evaluate where they are on the stress meter. Angie will share resources to assist during difficult times and will provide options for caregivers who feel they are ready for help. Knowing you are not alone, evaluating your situation and knowledge of resources is key to being a successful caregiver. 13 IRELAND We have returned from Ireland with amazing memories! The weather varied with sunny and rainy days during our journey. We traveled across Ireland taking in the breathtaking views of rolling green hills, dramatic coasts, quaint villages, and stunning cliff walls. We took a horse/carriage ride through the streets of Killarney, shopped at local artisan-made craft stores, and enjoyed some traditional Irish music and dancing. We toured the walled city of Derry, the ring of Kerry, the remarkable and awe-inspiring Giant s Causeway and Blarney Castle where we kissed the Blarney Stone. We even spent the night in a castle for our farewell dinner and last night in Ireland. We had so much fun traveling together, sharing stories, laughing and experiencing all that Ireland had to offer! If you have not traveled with us before, you really should join us and see for yourself why traveling with the Connect Club is so much fun!
