Phone (03) Mungo Man Return to Country - November 18 SPRING ART EXHIBITION BY MILDURA ART GROUP THEMED RAIN Wednesday 1 November 30, Open Tuesdays & Saturdays 10am -4pm, Open daily during public and Victorian school holidays 10am-4pm, Riverfront Gallery, Hugh King Drive, The Art Group are now showcasing their Spring Exhibition, entitled Rain. This will be on show for the full Spring season. All works are by local art group members and are for sale. They present a wide range of styles and all mediums to appeal to the most discerning visitor. EFTPOS and layby are available for your convenience. The members get together on Tuesdays and visitors are most welcome to view the Exhibition and watch the artists at work. Admission is free. This fun, free community event will be an opportunity to acknowledge and look back at all the work that has been done as part of the Riverfront Redevelopment Project - Stage 1, which is funded by the Australian Government, Victorian State Government and Rural City Council. The Official Opening Ceremony commences at 10:30am, and following will be local aircraft displays, scenic and adventure flights Also featuring a free BBQ and jumping castle for the kids, lucky door prizes and giveaways, this celebration will be one for everyone to enjoy. The winged Sprintcars feature 500 hp engines which rocket these beasts around the circuit at high speed with lots of thrills and spills. Be sure to get there and get your backside trackside for what promises to be an awesome nights racing. Gates open at 3pm and racing from 6.30pm. MILDURA MOTORCYCLE CLUB 70TH ANNIVERSARY BBQ MEET AND GREET Saturday 4, 2-10pm, Olympic Park Speedway, Johnson Bend, Straight out Eleventh Street (West), Come down to the Motorcycle Club Clubrooms for a drink and a BBQ and check out the memorabilia scattered around showcasing the 70 year history of the club. Club legends will be in attendance 5pm start. RED CLIFFS COUNTRY MARKET Sunday 5, 9am-1pm, Ilex St, Indi Ave & Barclay Square, Red Cliffs Red Cliffs Market is just a short 15 minute drive from and offers over 100 stalls of local produce, crafts, bric-a-brac, gourmet delights, plants, jewellery, sausage sizzle and rides for the kids. Enjoy the live entertainment and pop up art galleries. Most local stores are also open for your convenience RED CLIFFS HISTORICAL STEAM RAILWAY Sunday 5, 11am 4pm, Calder Highway and Millewa Road, Red Cliffs The Red Cliffs Historical Steam Railway operates a steam train which has significant importance to Red Cliffs. Unique to Sunraysia it is the only tourist steam train in the area and one of the few small gauge railways throughout Australia. Come and enjoy a ride on an authentic steam train. Departing every half hour, the last train pulls out at 3.30pm. Cost: $2 per adult, children free For further information contact Red Cliffs & District Historical Society on PHIL CRUMP INTERNATIONAL SOLO TROPHY & GATES SIDECAR CUP Sunday 5, pm, Olympic Park Speedway, Johnson Bend, Straight out Eleventh Street (West), Don t miss this years running of this prestigious annual event where you will see some of the best Solo and Sidecar riders in the World competing during the 70th Anniversary celebrations of the Motorcycle Club. See 12 of the best solo riders in the world battle it out for the Phil Crump International Solo Trophy and see 12 of the Worlds best sidecar teams fighting it out for the inaugural Gates Sidecar Cup named after John and Les Gates. Also there will be a legends parade and legends races in both the solos and sidecars. Phil Crump, himself a past International Champion will oversee the action in what can only be described as potentially the best competition seen at the famous Olympic Park, with the Worlds Best Riders keen to take home the Silverware. COL BEASLEY 410 SPRINTCAR CLASSIC, MODIFIED SEDANS, LATE MODELS Sunday 5, Timmis Speedway, Deakin Avenue, Col Beasley Classic Returns in But BIGGER & BETTER! The Col Beasley 410 Sprintcar Classic will run in a similar format to last year whist receiving a few minor tweaks that are all to be revealed in the coming weeks. Modified sedans are once again expected to get the call up to support the program once again along with "Classic Sprintcars" of yesteryear to feature along side the 410's. MELBOURNE CUP DAY AT MILDURA Tuesday November 7 Racing from 12.30pm, Sandilong Park, If you re looking for a great day out, then you can t go past s social event of the year! Settle in amongst the live horse racing action, the Gold Cup Marquee, the mini marquee enclosure, live entertainment, fashions on the field and free children s entertainment. The Australia Alternative Varieties Wine Show (AAVWS) was founded in 1999 when Stefano de Pieri, Bruce Chalmers and Dr Rod Bonfiglioli began the Sangiovese Awards. They went further with the Australian Italian Wine Show in Both of these shows were great successes, and the first AAVWS followed in DINNER AMONGST THE ROSES Saturday 11, Rose Garden, Australian Inland Botanic Gardens. 7pm start, River Road, Buronga Come and indulge in a gourmet dinner prepared by s own Dag Demarkow. Featuring solo s, sidecars and classic speedway machines, all supported by local motocross legends unleashing mayhem on the famous circuit. The senior action kicks of at 7.30pm, with juniors battling it out on the centre track at 6.30pm. She and her best friend, zany Trixie Martin, search for the missing treasure that could save the fortunes of the exclusive Grangewood School for Young Ladies. Starting in the Langtree Mall we will walk as one to the Riverfront in support of White Ribbon Australia and together we will say "NO" to violence against women in our community. There are stalls on-site with fresh produce and crafts along with the local ukulele band entertaining visitors and Train Tours of the gardens, viewing exotic plantings grouped in beds by country of origin.
