Sit down for morning tea with the artists before strolling over to the museum and mission precinct. After lunch at the art centre, participate in a behind-the-scenes screen printing workshop with local artists. Choose from contemporary or traditional Tiwi designs to print onto your t-shirt or tea towel a wonderful souvenir of your Tiwi visit. 4 Art Culture wildlife TIWI ABORIGINAL CULTURAL EXPERIENCE Departing on the SeaLink ferry from Cullen Bay at 8am, after a 2.5 hour cruise you will arrive on Bathurst Island where you will meet your local Tiwi guide. Travelling in an air-conditioned vehicle, your guide will take you on a journey through the progressive, modern day Aboriginal community of Wurrumiyanga. Visit the museum with its interesting displays of traditional art and depictions of the Tiwi dreamtime stories and Early Mission Precinct with its unique Tiwi style Catholic Church. Enjoy a morning tea of billy tea and damper with the Tiwi Ladies while they work on their weaving and painting. Your guides and the ladies will also demonstrate their totem dances and perform a smoking ceremony to bless their visitors and explain the meanings behind them. Visit Tiwi arts and crafts co-operatives where you will have the opportunity to purchase Tiwi arts and crafts and screen-printed fabric at Island prices. Stop at a picturesque lookout, which is the setting of a Tiwi burial site, as the day comes to an end and you head back for your return cruise. On arrival onto the beach at Crab Claw Island, enjoy a seafood buffet meal on the spacious deck at the resort, overlooking the water. Enjoy a choice of two pools for a swim, hire a boat to explore the surrounding Bynoe Harbour, take an optional scenic helicopter flight or simply relax with a cool beverage on the deck before cruising back to Cullen Bay.
