Assessment Conditions This is an open book research assignment. Method of Assessment Verbal and/or written answers Answers must be in students own words. Prerequisites Nil Definitions Hemispheres refer to the northern and southern hemispheres. Attractions refer to both constructed and natural attractions existing at a destination which are of interest to tourists. For example constructed attractions may include museums, buildings, zoos; natural attractions may include forests, lakes, geothermal areas. Activities refer to commercial activities at a destination which are of interest to tourists. For example excursions, ballooning, boat cruise, nature trek, city tour. Events refer to staged events which occur on a regular basis at a destination which are of interest to tourists. For example exhibitions, festivals, tradeshows. Attraction, activity and event features may include but are not limited to what there is to see and do, location, duration, time of year, facilities/services available, opening hours, price range. Current travel industry resources refer to any resources, manual and/or electronic, used by a travel industry workplace. Examples may include but are not limited to supplier and/or wholesale brochures, websites, computer reservation system. Elapsed transportation time is the actual time it takes to travel from one destination to another. City refers to any city, town or other significant tourist destination. Inter-island refers to travel by water between two different islands. Examples may include but are not limited to North Island and South Island, North Island and Waiheke Island, South Island and Stewart Island. Rental vehicle operators refer to suppliers of rental cars and/or motorhomes. Current regulations refer to those outlined by Immigration New Zealand ( Moderated and approved by ATTTO May Ed3 - Published June 2010 Page 2 of 19

How you choose to present the information for New Zealand is up to you and your teacher/tutor. For example: Brooklands Zoo, New Plymouth Features include: Zoo opening times 9am to 5pm, every day of the year except Christmas Day. Admission is free. Brooklands Zoo is a family focused zoo with farmyard animals, an endangered red panda, oriental small-clawed otters, ring-tailed lemurs and capuchin and cotton-top tamarind monkeys, a colourful collection of birds in a walk-through free-flight aviary. Wheelchair and pushchair access, playground, sun shade, toilets and picnic tables available. All rental vehicles are insured, For drivers 25 years and over, the insurance excess* is from NZ $1,000 + GST. Specialty vehicles may be subject to a higher excess*. A single vehicle accident will be subject to an excess* from $2,000 + GST. Single vehicle excesses are nonreducible. Windscreen insurance may be available (please enquire on booking). *Insurance excess and driver age are subject to change.
