2 ITINERARY OVERVIEW Day 1 Welcome to Auckland. City touring to highlights of Auckland; Sail on Hauraki Gulf to tranquil Islington Bay, dinner on board the boat or at Orbit restaurant top of Auckland s Sky Tower. If dining on the boat visit the Sky Tower, the tallest building in the southern hemisphere, for stunning observation over Auckland city and Hauraki Gulf. Day 2 Travel to Waitomo Caves, private tour of the caves, followed by lunch on a farm. Onto Rotorua - evening of geothermal wonders and Maori culture including private dinner event at the geothermal reserve with unique Maori theme. Day 3 Morning flight to Queenstown. Group charter sail on Lake Wakatipu for the afternoon, docking in town; Guests welcomed at the town wharf by hotel s staff and shown the way to the hotel (a few steps away). Event dinner at the hotel. Day 4 Fiordland, Milford Sound: A stunning scenic flight above the Southern Alps to the Milford Sound, followed by a cruise on the Milford Sound. Chartered cruise is possible, lunch buffet is possible (halal); fly back to Queenstown. Mountain landing is possible, with guided walk or mountain-top lunch. Early evening ride up the Skyline Gondola for a private buffet dinner. Day 5 Queenstown Mount Cook Morning 4WD tour to Lord of the Rings sites, followed by a jetboat ride on the spectacular Shotover River. Lunch in a Country restaurant and travel to Mount Cook - the highest mountain in New Zealand. Guided star-gazing can be arranged after dinner. Day 6 Mount Cook Christchurch Morning glacial lake cruise followed by a drive to Christchurch via the McKenzie Country. Visit Christchurch renown Botanic Gardens; Gala dinner at a selected venue. 4 WELCOME TO AUCKLAND Day 1 New Zealand s largest, busiest and most diverse city. Home to almost one-third of the country s population, Auckland is built around an extinct volcanic bed of mountains, craters, islands and lagoons and with a mild, humid climate, Auckland features lush green landscapes, plentiful beaches and magnificent parks and gardens. Your guide will show you around some of the highlights of Auckland, including the Sky Tower observation deck; Afternoon sail on Hauraki Gulf to Islington Bay by Rangitoto Island and enjoy dinner on board the boat. Dinner can be replaced with a dinner at the Orbit restaurant on the top floors of the Sky Tower, dining and overlooking the city. 5 AUCKLAND TO ROTORUA, VIA WAITOMO Day 2 Travel to Rotorua via Waitomo Caves - one of the wonders of nature a vast system of underground caves featuring glowworms unique to this part of the world. The group will be taken on a customised private guided tour through the caves. Lunch: option on a farm (halal) or at a restaurant near the caves. From here proceed to Rotorua, approx 2hrs drive. Rotorua is famed for its geothermal activity and its rich Maori culture. At Te Puia enjoy a private group tour through the geothermal reserve, followed by a private dinner in the heart of the geothermal reserve near Te Pohutu geyser (summer outdoor, winter marquee); The guests will be welcomed by a traditional Maori greeting performance into the dining area and further performance during dinner. 6 ROTORUA TO QUEENSTOWN Day 3 Morning flight to Queenstown. Charter sail on Lake Wakatipu from the airport to town including a welcome theme on board, lunch, fruit cocktail (no alcohol). On arrival at the city wharf, the hotel staff will welcome the guests and walk them to the hotel, a few steps away. Late afternoon city walk with the guide along the lake and the botanical gardens will be available. Event dinner - Welcome to the South Island dinner at the hotel. 7 QUEENSTOWN - MILFORD SOUND Day 4 Today is one of the highlights of the tour - scenic flight (40 min) from Queenstown to the Milford Sound over high peaks, glaciers, mountain lakes and the Milford Sound itself; followed by a cruise on the Milford Sound (Chartered cruise possible if desired), lunch buffet if desired (halal). Scenic flight back to Queenstown. The afternoon can be free to enable own choice of activities (sky-dive / bungy / paragliding and more). The coach will be available for sightseeing with the guide for those who wish to join. Early evening ride up the Skyline Gondola for a private buffet dinner overlooking Queenstown, the Remarkables mountain range and Lake Wakatipu. 8 QUEENSTOWN - MOUNT COOK Day 5 Queenstown is renown for The Lord of the Rings filming sites around it. This morning take a customised 4WD tour to sites of the Lord of the Rings at the backcountry of Queenstown, followed by a jetboat ride on the spectacular Shotover River. Enjoy lunch in a Country restaurant and travel to Mount Cook - the highest mountain in New Zealand and of the Southern Alps, a unique remote location, granted World Heritage Park for its night sky. 9 MOUNT COOK - CHRISTCHURCH Day 6 Enjoy a morning glacial lake cruise with a short hike. From here, drive via the turquoise lakes of Pukaki and Tekapo, stop at the Church of the Good Shepherd, before arriving into Christchurch - the largest city of the South Island. Enjoy the impressive Botanic Gardens of Christchurch, considered the most English gardens outside of England; Option to add a Punting ride on the Avon (a lovely convoy experience, 10 passengers on a Gondola, with branding), option to visit the International Antarctic Centre. In the evening - a Gala summary dinner at a selected venue in the heart of the Botanic Gardens.
