2 Albany Esperance Explorer 7 Days (choice of two tour dates) Sat 17 Fri 23 Feb 2018 or Sun 20 Sat 26 May 2018 $1,970 (Seniors $1,920) S/Supp $470 Come with us to Albany, the oldest settled town in WA, and Esperance which has some of the best beaches in the world. Depart Perth, stop in Collie for morning tea, then a stop at Harvey Dickson s Country Music Centre in Boyup Brook. Continue through Franklin River, Rocky Gully and stop at Albany. (D) We visit some of Albany s attractions Mt Clarence and the Desert Mounted Corps Memorial; the National ANZAC Centre; the Gap; the Natural Bridge and Whale World. Today we travel to Box Hill, Bremer Bay near the Southern Ocean, then Jerramungup for lunch. We continue to Fitzgerald National Park and Hopetoun where we settle for the night. A short drive to Esperance today where we visit Cape Le Grand National Park, Lucky Bay, Rossiter Bay, Hellfire Bay, Le Grande Beach, and Thistle Cove. We also visit Esperance s Stonehenge! Boyup Brook Music Centre ANZAC Centre/Whale World Bremer Bay Hopetoun Stonehenge Woody Island boat cruise Norseman Holland Track Mulka s Cave/Wave Rock Today we relax on a boat cruise to Woody Island, followed by a leisurely drive in the afternoon around the Great Ocean Drive, visiting beaches and bays and the famous Pink Lake. We leave Esperance and head towards Norseman, passing Salmon Gums and Lake Dundas. Short stop in Norseman and then it s on to the Norseman Hyden Road, travelling on some of the Holland Track and past Lake Johnson. Overnight in Hyden. We explore the Hyden area (Mulka s Cave and Wave Rock) before heading to Kondinin and Brookton, and finally Perth. (B) Margaret River Food and Wine Trail 5 Days (choice of two tour dates) Sat 03 Wed 07 March 2018 or Sun 19 to Thu 23 August 2018 $1,370 (Seniors $1,320) S/Supp $310 Margaret River is one of Australia s best wine and food producing regions, and is known for its scenic coastline, beaches, and forests. Departing Perth, we head to Australind for morning tea, then continue to the iconic Busselton Jetty to visit the Underwater Observatory. Later we visit the Chocolate Factory and Watershed winery for tastings before stopping at our accommodation. (D) We explore Boranup Forest and Canal Rocks, followed by shopping and sightseeing in Margaret River in the afternoon. We visit Leeuwin Estate for a tour and tasting, and the Cheeky Monkey Brewery for lunch, beer and cider tastings. (B,L,D) Today we visit Providore Food and Winery for wine, liqueur, jam, preserves, olive oil, spice and dessert tastings! Later we enjoy a visit to the Eagles Heritage Estate to see the largest collections of eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls in Australia. We visit Dunsborough and Meelup Beach this morning, then Bunbury for lunch on our way home to Perth. Explore Hobart city s sights and waterfront before venturing to Mt Field National Park. Witness the natural beauty of Russell Falls, Lake St Clair, Cradle Mountain, the Freycinet National Park and more. Fly to Hobart where we are met by our crew and transferred to our motel for dinner and a good night s sleep. (D) Visit Battery Point, Salamanca Place, the Botanical Gardens and Mt Nelson (amazing views of Hobart)! Free time later in the city to explore at leisure. Travel to Australia s most infamous prison at the penal colony of Port Arthur, then on to Hell s Kitchen - the channel between Macquarie Heads on the west and Entrance Island on the east. Travel to New Norfolk and the magnificent Mt Field National Park to see the spectacular three-tiered Russell Falls. Continue up to Lake St Clair, and visit the Wall in the Wilderness (a fascinating sculpture where artist Greg Duncan has hand-carved a series of scenes into panels commemorating those who shaped the area s past and present). We continue on a scenic drive to Queenstown. Across to Strahan today for a Gordon River Cruise, where the wilderness comes to the water s edge. Stop at Sarah Island and discover the ruins of the penal colony. After lunch on board we return to Strahan for free time to explore this historic town. (B,L) Visit the mining and hydroelectric towns of Rosebery and Tullah on the way to Cradle Mountain National Park. Join our Tour Director for a guided walk around Dove Lake, then meander through the forest and alpine heathlands on a purpose-built boardwalk. Overnight stay in Sheffield - town of murals. We travel to Devonport, on the mouth of the Mersey River, and continue to Exeter and Beaconsfield (remembered for the tragic Beaconsfield gold mine collapse in 2006). We have a tour of the mine, and then head to Launceston, our home for the next two nights. On to George Town, the 1805 convict-built pilot station at Low Head, then to Bridport on Anderson Bay, Granite Point, and Scottsdale. An afternoon visit to the Bridestowe Lavender Estate for some famous lavender ice-cream! Return to Launceston via Lilydale s stunning waterfalls. (B) Visit Legerwood today to look at the Legerwood Carved Memorial Trees (sculptures of World War One soldiers of Dorset, Tasmania). Next stop is the old tin town of Derby, then on to Branxholm, and St Helens, situated on George Bay, known as the game fishing capital of Tasmania and renowned for its oysters. 0 Experience the exquisite beauty of Wineglass Bay on a four-hour cruise of the Freycinet Peninsula with a local guide. Experience breathtaking Freycinet National Park, with its pink granite mountains, coastal dunes and dry eucalypt forests. (B,L) 1 Journey to Swansea and historic Ross, the finest nineteenth century village in Australia. Visit the exquisite Ross Bridge with its 186 carvings depicting Celtic symbols, flora, fauna and notable personalities of the day, then on to Oatlands with its large number of colonial sandstone buildings, many of them built by convict labour. Later we make our way on the Midlands Highway to Bridgewater and Hobart. 2 This morning we visit Mt Wellington which rises to 1,269 metres above sea level and is frequently covered by snow, then we say our goodbyes before our flights home. 4 The Great Central Road Experience 13 Days Mon 02 Sat 14 April 2018 Adults $3,995 pp (Seniors $3,945 pp) S/Supp $750 A tour for those who wish to discover the spectacular scenery of our red centre. Be amazed by the size of our iconic Uluru and the beauty of the nearby Kata Tjuta, marvel at the Coober Pedy moonscape, and travel along the Great Central Road. Depart Perth, heading east along the Great Eastern Highway towards Kalgoorlie, stopping at Cunderdin s pump house museum, Southern Cross and historic Coolgardie. Overnight in Kalgoorlie. (D) We visit the mind-blowing Super Pit, Mt Charlotte reservoir, and the famous two-up ring, then continue to Menzies, the ghost town of Gwalia, Leonora and Laverton. We are now on the Great Central Road, which runs 1,126 km from Laverton to Yulara in the Northern Territory. Spot wildlife along the way dingoes, emus, kangaroos, camels, eagles and more Overnight in Warburton. Into the Gibson Desert where we visit the remote Giles weather station, Warakurna roadhouse, Schwerin Mural Crescent, and Docker River. We visit the legendary Lasseter s Cave, and catch glimpses of the Olgas (Kata Tjuta) in the distance. Overnight in Yulara. We drive to Ayers Rock and the Olgas, and experience the sheer beauty and spiritual presence of these natural formations. Later we visit the Cultural Centre, and then Yulara Village. There is also an opportunity to fly over both Ayers Rock and the Olgas (own expense). By late afternoon we ll be back at the Rock for a barbecue dinner and sunset view! We leave Yulara today, stopping at Curtin Springs for morning tea. Next it s on to Kings Canyon and the Watarrka National Park. Optional helicopter flights over the ranges (own expense), followed by an evening sunset viewing over the Watarrka National Park. Drive to Alice Springs today, and visit the historic Telegraph Station and ANZAC Hill lookout followed by a visit to Simpson s Gap. Free time in Alice this afternoon. (B) An opportunity for an early morning balloon flight (optional) before breakfast. We visit Trephina Gorge Nature Park and Ross River Homestead, then it s back to Alice Springs tonight. Today we travel to Erldunda and Marla, and continue on to the very unique Coober Pedy, our home for two nights. (B) 1 We follow the highway today to Woomera (famous for its history as a rocket test range), then on to Port Augusta on the Spencer s Gulf. 2 This morning we visit Matthew Flinders Lookout and the Arid Botanical Gardens, followed by a visit to the very informative Wadlata Centre. Later it s on to Adelaide. 3 We visit the Mt Lofty Summit for views over Adelaide s city skyline, before being transferred to the airport for our flights home. 5 Red Centre Dreaming 8 Days Tue 17 Wed 25 April 2018 Adults $2,810pp (Seniors $2,760pp) S/Supp $500 Is there any part of Australia more iconic than the Red Centre? With Uluru at its heart, the surrounding Kata Tjuta and the majestic Kings Canyon, this ancient landscape is not to be missed. Fly Perth to Alice Springs where we are greeted by our crew and transferred to our accommodation for two nights. (D) Opportunity for an early balloon flight over the MacDonnell Ranges (own expense) before breakfast. Later we visit the historic Telegraph Station, ANZAC Hill Lookout, Desert Park, Simpson s Gap, and Honeymoon Gap. Today we visit Trephina Gorge Nature Park, and the historic Ross River Homestead, our accommodation for the night. It s on to Uluru and Kata Tjuta today, with a stop at Mt Conner (often mistaken for Uluru), and Lake Amadeus. We also visit the 1-million-acre cattle property at Curtin Springs. Accommodation at Yulara (our home for two nights). We return to Alice Springs via the Ernest Giles Rd (weather permitting), visiting Stuarts Well Roadhouse on the way. Some free time in Alice Springs town centre this morning before our transfer to the airport for our flight home. Outback WA Goldfields 6 Days Sat 28 April to Thu 03 May 2018 $1,870 (Seniors $1,820) S/Supp $420 Follow in the footprints of some of our early explorers and mining pioneers. Discover how they survived in this hot, dry and unforgiving land and see how the discovery of gold and precious metals have shaped our future. Departing Perth, we travel to York for morning tea, then on to Merredin for lunch. We continue past Southern Cross and stop at Coolgardie on our way to Kalgoorlie, our accommodation for four nights. (D) We visit the once-thriving towns of Broad Arrow and Ora Banda, stopping at the two-up ring on the way, then on past Menzies to see the Lake Ballard statues. We also visit historic Kookynie and Niagara Dam on our way back to Kalgoorlie. We explore the towns of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, starting with a mine tour of the Super Pit. We also visit the Loop Line museum, the Goatcher Curtain at the Boulder Town Hall, and Hammond Park. Today we have a tour of the Royal Flying Doctor Centre, and a visit to the Hannans North Tourist Mine. It s on to Norseman via Kambalda and Lake Lefroy, then after lunch we make our way via some of the Holland Track to Hyden, stopping at the impressive Lake Johnson on the way. This morning we visit the legendary Mulka s Cave, Wave Rock, and Hippo s Yawn, then continue though Kondinin, Corrigin and Brookton to our last stop at Perth. 6 Flinders Ranges / Lake Eyre / Coober Pedy 10 Days Fri 27 April Sun 06 May 2018 $3,270 (Seniors $3,250) S/Supp $750 A magnificent tour of the Flinders Ranges and iconic Marree, the start of the Birdsville Track. We include views of south Lake Eyre, the largest lake in Australia, and Coober Pedy, known for its opals and underground dwellings. Fly to Adelaide, home of festivals and food, arts and culture. We visit Mt Lofty in the Adelaide Hills and view panoramic views across Adelaide s city skyline to the coast, then head to our accommodation for the first night of our tour. (D) Today we drive to Port Pirie for a town tour then we have free time to explore. Later we continue to Port Augusta which is situated on the Spencer s Gulf. Here we visit the very informative Wadlata Centre for a journey back in time. We take a delightful drive to Quorn this morning, stopping for morning tea and then continuing on to Hawker to visit the Jeff Morgan Gallery. Later we arrive at Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges for a two-night stopover. Today we explore Wilpena Pound and have a chance to fly over the ranges before an afternoon visit to the little town of Blinman, the highest town in South Australia. (B) We leave Wilpena Pound today and travel through the Flinders Ranges to Parachilna and then Leigh Creek, visiting the ruins of Farina on the way to Marree, situated at the junction of the Oodnadatta Track and the Birdsville Track. Marree is our home for two nights. Today it s on to Lake Eyre, stopping at Alberrie Creek along the way. Later we have an opportunity for flights over Lake Eyre (own expense), and time to explore the little town of Marree. We continue on to Coober Pedy today, one of the biggest towns in South Australia, and home to 92% of Australia s opals. It is also one of Australia s most multi-cultural towns, and is well-known for its underground dwellings. On the way, we stop at William Creek, an historic old pub on the Oodnadatta Track, and the famous dog fence. We have a town tour of Coober Pedy this morning, learning all about its fascinating history, and finishing with an opportunity to buy some opals, try some noodling, and explore this iconic town. (B) Today we continue on the Stuart Highway, with stops on the way at Lake Hart and Woomera. Woomera came into existence because of Britain s defence requirements following World War II. We continue on the Stuart Highway for an afternoon visit to the Mathew Flinders Lookout before arriving at our accommodation in Port Augusta. 0 We head back to Adelaide today to catch our flights back to Perth. 7 Namatjira Country Art Tour with Herman Pekel 8 Days Thu 10 Thu 17 May 2018 $4,480 S/Supp $780 (Land Only $3,980) Capture some of Australia s most stunning landscapes and natural features on this amazing tour. Sketch and paint majestic gorges, rolling hills and mountains, linen white gum trees and much more! We spend quality time in each location, watching Herman demonstrate how to capture our beautiful surroundings in our art, and then having a go ourselves. We arrive in Alice Springs where we are met by our Aussie Redback Tours team and transferred to our accommodation. Later we enjoy a meet-andgreet with our tutor and fellow artists, and our first dinner together. (D) An opportunity for an early morning balloon flight over the MacDonnell Ranges (own expense) before breakfast, then we spend all day painting the buildings and countryside at Alice Springs Telegraph Station, under Herman s guidance. Later we visit Araluen Cultural Centre and the Albert Namatjira Gallery. Herman has won numerous awards, exhibits his work regularly worldwide, and has work featured in many prominent art books. He is a popular teacher and especially enjoys showing others how to paint outdoors. Tutorial and painting at Simpsons Gap this morning. Simpsons Gap is a stunning gorge carved out of the West MacDonnell Range and is a wonderful painting subject. Lunch at Glen Helen Homestead (our accommodation) followed by more painting and an opportunity for a helicopter flight over the gorge (own expense). All day painting at Ormiston Gorge under our tutor s guidance, with endless subjects - the earthy orange gorge, crystal reflections, grand old gum trees, birdlife, wildlife and more. (B, D) A full day of painting again, this time at Ellery Creek Big Hole. Thousands of years of massive floods have carved out this beautiful waterhole and unlocked some amazing geology (an artist s dream)! This morning we travel to Ross River (stopping for morning tea in Alice Springs on the way). We enjoy lunch at Ross River Homestead and then spend the afternoon painting our surrounds. A day of painting at the stunning Trephina Gorge, noted for its sheer quartzite cliffs, River Redgum lined watercourses, and wide sandy creek beds. 8 Kimberley Landscapes Art Tour with Amanda Hyatt 9 Days Fri 01 to Sat 09 June 2018 $4,950 S/Supp $850 (Land only $4,250) Capture the beauty of the stunning Kimberley Region of WA. Boabs, gorges, lakes, and a wide array or flora and fauna make this an art tour to remember. We spend quality time in each location, watching Amanda show us how to paint our surroundings, followed by plenty of time to create our own paintings as well. Arrive in Kununurra where you are met by the Aussie Redback Tours crew and transferred to your accommodation at Lake Argyle Resort. (D) Painting all day at Lake Argyle Resort (spectacular views over Lake Argyle and the surrounding mountain vistas), under Amanda s guidance. (B) We travel over the border today to Keep River National Park in the Northern Territory. After a tutorial and under Amanda s guidance we paint a billabong filled with waterlilies, water birds and dragonflies, and the city of striped sandstone structures likened to the Bungle Bungles. (B,L,D) Amanda Hyatt is recognised as one of Australia s best en plein air artists and teachers, with numerous awards and exhibitions under her belt. She teaches at major Australian painting workshops and is an invited teacher/tutor of international workshops. Amanda s style is instinctive and she aims to create an expressive effect directly, immediately and spontaneously to achieve the final look in one session. With 30 years experience, she is a master of alla prima watercolour! Today we get to paint the fascinating rock formations in Mirima National Park, then enjoy lunch in Kununurra, followed by a boab tree painting session at Celebrity Tree Park. Overnight in Kununurra. This morning you have an opportunity to take a fixed wing flight over Lake Argyle and Bungle Bungles (own expense) before breakfast. Later we spend the day painting at Lily Creek Lagoon a mini wetlands with amazing birdlife, boating and crocs! (B) We head to The Grotto this morning for photos of this stunning natural water hole, followed by a painting session at Parry Lagoon which is teeming with birdlife, including magpie geese, swamp hens, cranes, jabiru and more You may even spot the odd croc or two! (B,L,D) We spend the day at Wyndham, the oldest and most northernmost town in the Kimberley. We paint from the top of Five Rivers Lookout which has fantast 360 degree painting views! Amanda will start you off with a tutorial, and then it s your turn! (B) Today we drive back to Kununurra, stopping for one last painting opportunity of the Kimberley landscape, followed by a visit to the Zebra Rock Gallery, and later a farewell dinner and showand-tell of our artwork. A last look at Kununurra this morning before our flights home. 9 Gibb River / Bungle Bungles 10 Days Wed 13 Fri 22 June 2018 $4,650 (Seniors $4,600) Single supp $1,100 A very popular tour, taking in the best of the iconic Kimberley region including the Bungle Bungle range, Cathedral Gorge, Geikie Gorge, Bells Gorge, Lake Argyle and the fertile farmlands of Kununurra. We arrive in Kununurra and begin with a visit to the diversion dam, Ivanhoe Crossing, Zebra Rock Gallery, and the farmland areas. Overnight in Kununurra. (D) An early start today. We journey to Purnululu National Park, where the black and orange striped domes of the Bungle Bungle ascend to 578 metres above sea level. Full of geological and Indigenous cultural significance, this place is just mesmerizing! Opportunity for a helicopter flight in the afternoon (own expense). We explore Purnululu National Park and the Bungle Bungle range today, walk along Piccaninny Creek, and visit the natural amphitheater of Cathedral Gorge. Later we visit Echidna Chasm Walk, and Mini Palms Walk before heading back to our accommodation. (B,L,D) We leave the park today and visit Old Halls Creek, the unusual China Wall and Caroline Pool. Overnight in Halls Creek. Today we re off to Fitzroy Crossing, stopping at Mary River for morning tea. Later we enjoy a cruise on beautiful Geikie Gorge. Today we visit the extraordinary 750-metre long Tunnel Creek, and the sheer cliffs and white sands at Windjana Gorge (look out for freshwater crocodiles)! (B,L,D) Travelling on the Gibb River Road today. We are in the heart of the Kimberley, passing spectacular landscapes, intensely coloured ranges, dramatic gorges, deep rock pools and spectacular waterfalls. We visit Bell Gorge for a relaxing dip below the stunning waterfall, then it s off to Galvan s Gorge for another swim. (B,L,D) We cross Barnett River this morning, then continue on the Gibb River Road to Ellenbrae Station for morning tea with scones and cream. Later we arrive at Home Valley Station and its surrounding areas made famous by Baz Luhrmann s movie Australia. In the afternoon we enjoy drinks and nibbles at the lookout and watch the sun set over the Cockburn Range. (B) Today we cross the mighty Pentecost River, visit El Questro, and Zebedee Springs for a revitalizing dip, and Emma Gorge for a hike. Overnight in Kununurra. 0 Our last day. You have an opportunity for an early flight over the Bungle Bungles and Lake Argyle (own expense) before breakfast. We visit nearby Mirima National Park, Kelly s Knob, and the Sandalwood Factory before our transfers to the airport for flights home. After travelling through part of the WA Goldfields, we cross the famous Nullarbor Plain (meaning no trees in Latin). Today we visit Murphy s Haystacks - ancient, wind-worn pillars and boulders of pink granite estimated to be over 1,500 million years old. Later it s on to Elliston, located on Waterloo Bay, then to Coffin Bay and Port Lincoln for two nights. Welcome to Port Lincoln, the Seafood Capital of Australia. Here we discover Australia s largest commercial fishing fleet and our millionaire s playground on a cruise. There s free time this afternoon, then we finished the day with an island fish fry and the Mutiny on the Bounty show. We enjoy a guided tour of Colleen McCullough s home today, to view priceless collections from around the world. This is a magical experience and we are privileged to be able to do this. We have enjoy a Hilli Goat Tour followed by a small feast! Later we visit the picturesque Anson Bay, and tonight we dress as a convict and join in with the commandant for feasting, singing, and dancing. Your outfit will be supplied, and a fun night is guaranteed to be had by all. Free time this morning, followed by a high tea in the afternoon, and a Wonderland by Night tour in the evening. The setting is 10 acres of magical Norfolk pines and bushland lit up like an enchanted forest. Afterwards we enjoy a light supper before turning in for the night. Today we take part in a Convict Settlement Tour, and then tonight we learn to sing a sea shanty, and enjoy musical tales at the Jolly Roger with Marty Zarb (singer, songwriter and rascally pirate). A fun night of fabulous food fit for a pirate or pirate queen definitely a bucket list gig on Norfolk Island. Later we travel to the Valley of the Giants for an afternoon tour amongst the treetops and an opportunity to walk the Ancient Empire Walk under the giant tingle trees. A morning visit to the magical beach of Greens Pool, and Elephant Rocks in William Bay National Park, before a morning cruise on the Walpole Inlet. Later in the day we pass through forest areas and stop at Fernhook Falls on the way to Bridgetown, our evening stopover. We head home today, stopping at the Old Cheese Factory WA s largest non-government funded arts and craft factory, featuring seven galleries filled with local produce, arts, crafts and antiques; the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury, and Mandurah before our late afternoon stop in Perth. (B) Manjimup Cherry Festival / Gnomesville 2 Days Sat 08 to Sun 09 December 2018 $550 (Seniors $500) S/Supp $80 Experience the colours and tastes of the Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival which celebrates the diversity of the horticultural industry in the Manjimup regional. To top off this fabulous weekend, we visit the Harvey Dickson Country Music Centre in Boyup Brook and then enjoy a visit to the thousands of Gnomes at Gnomesville a very popular growing tourist spot not to be missed! Departing Perth, we travel to Donnybrook for morning tea, then continue through Bridgetown to Manjimup, home of the Cherry Festival. Enjoy street entertainment, stalls, competitions, a fashion parade, log chopping and more After an enjoyable afternoon we travel back to the beautiful little town of Bridgetown via Donnelly River. (D) After breakfast, we take a short drive to Boyup Brook, WA s country music capital, to visit the Harvey Dickson Country Music Centre with its unique collection of memorabilia. You will be amazed at what is included in this extensive collection. Our next stop is Gnomesville where we spend some time amongst the gnomes before continuing our journey to Bunbury for a lunch stop, and then our last stop, Perth.
