2 Kakadu National Park Following the Australian and New Zealand Society of the History of Medicine Biennial Conference in Sydney, there is a dedicated medical history study tour to the ancient heart of Australia. The tour focuses on the history and history of medicine in the Australian outback, the Red Centre and the far north. The specialist visits and talks are combined cultural tours to some of Australia s most iconic and dramatic sites. Depart Sydney for Uluru, formerly known as Ayers Rock, and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon drive into the Tjuta National Park and Uluru. The first sighting of Uluru rising up on the horizon is unforgettable km long and 348 metres high. Uluru is of great cultural significance to the Anangu people, the traditional indigenous owners of the land. Learn about their culture on a guided walking tour, ending at a viewing platform at sunset. Here see the Rock change colour from ochre to orange and red in a spectacular display as the sun descends. Fly to Alice Springs in the centre of the continent. Part of Australian frontier history, Alice Springs was established as a stop for the Adelaide to Darwin telegraph. Following a view of the town from Alice Hill, visit the Overland Telegraph Station, now a museum. The Flying Doctors were established in Queensland in 1928 by Minister John Flynn and the station opened in Visit the museum which and learn about the services history and how it now covers over 2 million square kilometres. Drive out to Kakadu National Park, which covers over 20,000 square kilometres and encompasses a huge variety of landscapes, flora and fauna along with ancient Aboriginal cultural sites and rock art. Drive to the Rock and take part in an Anangu Aboriginal guided walk Visit viewpoint for sunset views of the Rock. Return to the resort 7 Jul (Tues) Uluru / Alice Springs / Darwin B Early morning optional Uluru sunrise viewing. Fly to Alice Springs Climb Anzac Hill for town view.
