1 Model A Flyer Model A Ford Club of NSW Inc Web site September 2018 Club Meetings are held at Holroyd Community Centre, Miller St., Merrylands. The parking entrance is in Newman Street. Meetings are held from 8 pm on the second Friday of each month unless otherwise stated. Once again, I express condolences on behalf of all members of the Model A Ford Club of NSW to Elinor Allen and family on the passing of her husband Robert Allen on 25 th August Robert was awarded an OAM for his services to sport and was a well respected referee in his younger years. More sad news was the sudden passing of member Greg Mirow on 29 th August On behalf of all members of the Model A Ford Club of NSW I express condolences to his wife Christine and family. Greg was from Gunnedah and suffered a heart attack and spent 12 days in John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle before his passing. Both members will be fondly remembered by those who knew them. Thank you to the members who attended the CMC day at Eastern Creek on 12 th August. Thank you to members who attended Maroota Muster on 18 th August. It was my first time attending and was a good day apart from the wind and cool weather. The Maroota Public School was appreciative of our attendance. Thank you for those members who attended the Presidents run on 1 st September being the St Marys Spring Festival. A great day out with the parade down the main street of St Marys the highlight of the day. Thank you to Tim from the T Model club for attending. All those members who will be attending the A Model National Rally in Murray Bridge in South Australia, please travel safely and enjoy the rally. It will be a time to catch up with fellow Model A members from all over Australia to share some time together and make some memories. On Saturday 1 st December our club will be having a grandchildren s Christmas party at Central Gardens in Merrylands. Each child 10 years or younger will receive a small bag of lollies from Santa and parents will have the opportunity to take photos of their kids with Santa. Santa will not be giving any other gifts to the kids. Please inform Robert Brown by the November meeting of the number of grandchildren attending so I can organise to make sure no one will miss out on a small bag of lollies. 2 RIP Robert (Bob) Allen During the celebration of Bob s life, we learned of his amazing life and achievements. Bob Allen's lovely wife Elinor and family, shared with hundreds of people the celebration of Bob's extensively influential life, combined by lovely photos. This was followed by a gathering at Ourimbah RSL. Some Northern A members in attendance were Ian & Faye, Lorraine & Peter, Leon, Barry & Elizabeth, Col Parry, John & Maureen, and ourselves. Lovely to see President Robert Brown and Trevor & Pat Davis who drove all the way from Sydney along with lots of other car people. Apologies were from Kate & John, Meagan & Steve, Barry & Pauline, Phil & Chris, Paula, Rob Taylor from WA, as well as other Northern Model A members. Di & Peter Paice RIP Gregory (Greg) Mirow I received a phone call from Brendan Mirow to inform me that his dad, Greg Mirow from Gunnedah passed away. Greg suffered a heart attack and was taken to Tamworth hospital by ambulance where he was then air lifted to John Hunter Hospital and sadly passed away on 29th August. Although Greg lived in Gunnedah, he and Brendan (his son) were regulars at Neville Jones Maintenance Days. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. RIP Greg. Brendan it is now up to you to finish the Fordor Sedan in memory of dad. Robert Brown

3 Tues 2nd to Sat 7th October Model A Ford National Meet Murray Bridge. We wish all of our members travelling to Murray Bridge at the end of the month a safe and trouble free journey. Many of them will be attending the Bay to Birdwood Run on Sunday 30th Sept, before the meet starts. This alone is well worth the trip. nd October Check in: Now 4pm on Tuesday Check in location: Owl Drive, off Swanport Road which intersects with the Princes Highway/South Eastern Freeway. At the very end of Owl Road is Middle/Senior Campus for Unity College, Rally HQ. There will be signage directing attendees throughout Murray Bridge to the site. Sunday 21st October Memorial Run Burnum Burnum Park Woronora Meet from 10am at the park in Washington Drive off Menai Road, NORTH OF BRIDGE. You will travel under bridge to get to park Club will put on a sausage sizzle and bread rolls. So bring your chairs, hats and maybe a table. Jim & Maureen Allingham event organisers. 4 Maroota Muster, another successful day A large group of Model A Ford members gathered at the Maroota Kids School to assist in raising funds to support the school. We have to congratulate everyone, as it was a bitterly cold day, as you can see by the clothes everyone are wearing. But another great Muster, the school raised $20,000 for next years operations, so well done to all who attended. Congratulations to Roz & Peter who won $150 for best displayed car, which they donated back to the school.

5 Presidents Run St Marys Spring Festival Thanks to everyone who turned up to represent the club at the St Marys Spring Festival. As you can see the St Marys Historical Society were there in their period dress. They were passengers in our cars for the street parade, which was a lot of fun.

6 Wednesday Wanderers No Wanderers Outing in October due to National Meet. 6th 7th Nov Wed Wanderers Mayfield Gardens Oberon In Memory of Barb As this is a popular tourist venue it is essential to have our accommodation secured. I have booked 8 double rooms at $109 per room and 4 twin rooms with 1 queen bed and one $125 per room for 2 people. Would you please book your room using the Model A Ford Club as soon as possible. This motel is at Oberon itself, Titania Motel Oberon phone The gardens have a website under Mayfield Gardens Oberon NSW. The gardens are modelled on the same principles as those of the stately homes in the UK and are really spectacular. Please contact Robert Brown re this event. Septembers Lunch at Manly Unfortunately it turned out to be a wet and blustery Sydney winters day. So although Wanderers turned up and sailed to Manly, there was not a great deal of walking around Manly due to the weather. The Wanderers made the sensible decision to re re to the hotel for a quite warm drink and lunch. Wednesday 5th December Christmas Lunch at Merrylands RSL. Details to follow in November Flyer. 1930/31 Left Hand Drive Tudor For Sale I have a 30/31 LHD Tudor that I don't require and would consider selling. It needs work but has good 'bones' and would result in a fairly good car. It drives ok but is unregistered. The resto work could be done progressively while using the car. I purchased this car from WA, but have since purchased back my old 29 Tudor, so this one has to go. The Perth Tudor owes me $23500 and won't be given away for a stupid low ball offer.
