1 Vol VI Issue II & III February and March 2018 GVK NMIA appoints Zaha Hadid Architects for designing the Navi Mumbai International Airport GVK Navi Mumbai International Airport (P) Ltd., (NMIA) has appointed the globally renowned firm, Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) to design the Navi Mumbai International Airport s Terminal 1 and ATC Tower. The London based ZHA was selected on completion of a challenging and intensive 12 week fast track design competition amongst the best international architecture firms that were shortlisted by GVK. ZHA is a world renowned firm established in 1979 and is known for its dynamic, innovative and iconic architecture with a portfolio of over nine hundred and fifty projects spread across forty four nations. Commenting on the occasion, Dr GVK Reddy, Founder and Chairman, GVK and Chairman NMIAL, said, Our vision is to establish one more landmark airport that would exceed the benchmarks that GVK had set through MIAL whilst creating Terminal 2 at Mumbai airport. We are committed towards bringing the best global practices from the industry to design, engineer and build this most awaited airport project in India and hence we decided to go with ZHA, a firm known for its path breaking and remarkable architecture. It also has the expertise of delivering a world class airport design through a highly professional team. GVK MIAL was declared the winning bidder for the Greenfield international airport that will be built on 1,160 hectares in phases and will eventually cater to 60 million passengers per year. The initial concession period is 30 years from the appointed date which is extendable for a further 10 years. 2 GVK AIRPORTS Ground Breaking Ceremony for the GVK NMIA The Hon ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi unveiled the foundation plaque at the ground breaking ceremony for the Navi Mumbai International Airport at the project site on 18 February, Present on the occasion were the Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways; Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Shri P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Dr. GVK Reddy, Chairman and Founder, GVK, Mr G V Sanjay Reddy, Vice Chairman GVK and other dignitaries. GVK MIAL conducts training program The Quality and Customer Care department of GVK MIAL conducted a two day training program on Information Security Management System (ISMS) 15 personnel from different departments of MIAL participated in the training program. The training was conducted by a Lead Trainer from Det Norske Veritas Germanischer Lloyd (DNVGL). This training will help the employees to implement the various practices of information security control and development of internal audit capability in the airport operation. GVK MIAL has been certified ISO27001 (ISMS standard) since 27 April, National safety week celebration at GVK CSIA GVK CSIA celebrated the National Safety Week from 4 to 10 March, 2018 at different locations like the Airside, CPWD, CSUB, STP and NSR at the airport alongwith outsourced employees to reinforce positive behavior at the work place for achieving safety and health goals. Safety measurement information was given to all the participants from different departments.

3 GVK CSIA provides facilities for Child care GVK AIRPORTS Travelling with young ones can be a challenge for parents. So to give extra care to the travelers children GVK CSIA has provided specialized child care rooms available at different parts of T1 and T2 where travelers can take care of their tiny tots. All travelling parents can avail this facility for their child s needs such as feeding, changing diapers etc by submission of a photo ID at the Information Desk. Also provided are baby strollers to make the best family travel experience at CSIA. Goindwal Sahib TPP conducted a two day workshop on Stress Management and Naturopathy for the senior executives and employees on 22 February, 2018 about the nature of stress at work place and its health effects and also to reduce their stress through simple physical exercises at work. The program was conducted by Ms Gajala from VIKALP, a Social and Charitable Trust from Nagpur. The main topic of the workshop was the scope of Naturopathy in the treatment of stress management at the workplace. The employees were provided introductory information on stress and different Yogasans along with simple exercises.

4 Jegurupadu CCPP organizes session for employees March is the month end for the financial year and employees try to fulfil their tax obligations to claim various deductions. To resolve all the tax issues of employees at the plant site, Jegurupadu CCPP organized a knowledge sharing session on Employee Taxation for the employees and other staff about the various tax benefits and tax calculations. Mr DG Sankar, Manager Accounts conducted the session and solved all the doubts of the employees. GVK ENERGY Gautami CCPP conducts training on Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Shrinagar HEP generates over 3707 million units of electricity The GVK Alaknanda Hydro Power Company Ltd generated and transmitted over 3810 million units of electricity since it commenced operations in April Shrinagar HEP is a run-of-the-river 330 MW Hydro Electric Project and is located in Tehri/Pauri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand on the river Alaknanda, Shrinagar. To discuss the challenges related to Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, team Gautami CCPP conducted a training programme on 15 March, Mr K Vijaya Bhaskar, Assistant Manager-E&C conducted the training and showcased the various processes of identifying all hazards at the workplace. This training will provide the employees with the necessary tools, skills and hands on training to enable them carry out Hazard Identification and reduce Risk Assessment in the workplace, while also taking care of their health and safety. Go Goindwal GVK s Goindwal Sahib TPP generated over 250 Million Units of electricity during the month of February and March this year. Goindwal Sahib Thermal Power Plant is a 540 MW (2X270 MW) thermal power project located near Goindwal Sahib Village, District Tarn Taran in the state of Punjab.

5 GVK TRANSPORTATION Deoli Kota Expressway conducts Knowledge sharing session Deoli Kota Expressway conducted a knowledge sharing session in the conference hall at toll plaza on 1 March 2018 for the employees to discuss and resolve the different issues for the smooth operation of the toll plaza. The session was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Mr P V Rao, Project Head at Deoli Kota Expressway and attended by senior executives. Every month this session is being organized at the toll plaza to build a knowledge-sharing culture to avoid any communication gap for the toll operations. Jaipur Kishangarh Expressway conducts Refresher Training Jaipur Kishangarh Expressway conducted a Refresher Training as part of the continuous training program for the Toll Collectors and other outsourced employees. The training was based on Customer Service and also educated the Toll Collectors about all aspects of good behavior, alertness during emergency, complaint book, proper uniform, safety measurement and health issues. Toll collectors also raised their queries and gave their suggestions based on their practical experience to the trainer for improvement of the services at the toll plaza. GVK collaterals bring in the PRCI awards The GVK Corporate Communications team bagged three awards at the Public Relations Council of India s (PRCI) 12th Annual Corporate Collateral Awards, held on 10 March, 2017 at Pune, for their entries pertaining to the creative work done on different collaterals for GVK. These included two Silver awards for our in-house magazine GVK WORLD and the documentary film on Shrinagar HEP in Uttarakhand and one certificate of appreciation for our In-house newsletter GVKonnect. It was indeed a proud moment for the GVK Corporate Communications team as we were amongst the esteemed winners list of industry stalwarts like the Tatas, Godrej, Reliance, GMR, Delhi Metro, PNB, Adani, Oil India, GAIL, NHAI, Adani etc. to name a few. 6 GVK HOSPITALITY Taj Banjara Fire evacuation drill Team Taj Banjara conducted fire evacuation mock drill in coordination with Telengana Police, Fire Department and GVK EMRI for the employees and other staff of the hotels to trained them about the various evacuation processes at the time of fire emergency. The Expert team briefed and demonstrated about the various evacuation mechanisms like how to use cylinders, how to rescue people who injured and information about the helpline numbers so that every employee can be safe their life at the time of any fire emergency. Medical Health Checkup The HR team of Taj Banjara organized a complimentary health check-up for all their associates with Apollo Hospital on 22 February, The medical team conducted various health related tests like blood sugar, ECG, BP check, Eye check-up etc. A Fond Goodbye The HR Team of Taj Banjara organized a grand farewell for their beloved colleague Mr Rajan Chittoor on his retirement, after 30 years of dedicated service to the Taj Family. The farewell was hosted in the presence of the General Manager Mr. Hitendra Sharma, HODs and the staff members along with his family, as he bid adieu to his workplace. The farewell cake cutting ceremony was organized along with high tea, followed by dance and songs to make the occasion more cheerful. Mr. Rajan Chittoor planted a sapling in the premises. Stretcher and Wheel Chair Mock Drill The Security team of Taj Banjara conducted a Stretcher and Wheelchair Drill for the Bell Desk, Housekeeping and Security team and members of the Safety Committee of the hotels. The aim of this drill was to inform everyone about the safety standards at the workplace and to assure that they could handle any medical emergency for the guests or staff smoothly without any panic. The training session included various techniques like how to handle injured guests and how to carry injured guests or staff on a stretcher and wheelchair.

7 Tambola GVK HOSPITALITY Taj Deccan Team Taj Deccan organized a game of Tambola as a part of fun at work at the Associate Dining Restaurant in the hotel premises. Associates from all across departments participated in this fun activity. All the winners won prizes - like for Jaldi 5 - Mr Dayal (F&B), Mr Venkatesh, Mr Sandeep and Mr Vivek grabbed first, middle and last line respectively (3 lines offer) and the Full House winners were Mr. Venkatesh, Mr. Sandeep, Mr. Souraj, Mr. Vivek and Mr. Venkatesh (Mclean).High tea with snacks was served to all the participants. Waste to Food Food waste is composed of organic matter, which can be used for re-composting to create fertilizer. With this belief, Taj Deccan conducted an interactive session with Greenpeace to spread the art of developing vertical gardens by using selfprepared fertilizers from waste food. All the associates were excited to learn how to make their own organic fertilizer from kitchen waste. They actively engaged in learning by clarifying several doubts and also expressed an interest in practising inhouse gardening with the use of organic waste for domestic purposes. Minute to Win Taj Deccan organized the one minute game for its associates at the associate dining restaurant in the hotel premises. In this game each player had to fill the maximum coins in a bowl with the help of two toothpicks in one minute. Around 40 employees from different departments participated and Mr Y Sattibabu from the engineering department won, picking up 22 coins followed by Mr Hefazuddin from F&B with 20 coins. Winners were presented gifts.

8 GVK HOSPITALITY Taj Club House Team Building Activity - Paper Tower Deepu, Jinu & Jerry from the HR team of Taj Club House organized a Team building activity as part of the Friday fun day and employee engagement activity of the Taj Family on 16 March, Every team had to build a paper tower by using newspapers and cello tape in 10 minutes and the paper tower was made to stand without any support for at least one minute. Four teams participated in this activity and two teams were successful in this fun filled activity. The winning team made a 78 inches high tower and the runner-up team built a 75 inches high tower. The winners were rewarded with a token of appreciation at the event. Hassan Rouhani Graces Taj Krishna Taj Krishna It was a moment of pride for the entire Taj Family as Mr Mohanchandran, General Manager of Taj Krishna with his team welcomed Mr Hassan Rouhani - the Hon ble President of Iran. The President s visit created a lot of buzz in Hyderabad city and managed to create a blend of sorts with the Iranian and Indian cultures bonding. Expert teams from various departments customized amenities for Mr Hassan Rouhani to make his visit memorable and ensured that he enjoyed to the fullest the special spirit of Taj. All those who met the President and heard his speech were spellbound and also appreciated Indian culture for embracing so many religions and spreading the message of unity. Taj Santacruz Valentine s Day Learning & Development and HR team of Taj Santacruz in coordination with the Food Production team celebrated Valentine s Day in the Associate Dining Room. The theme for the occasion was Take off Adoption. The Inauguration of the Take off was done by Mr Suju Thomas Ninan, Director of HR along with the heads of departments. During the inauguration, poetry was recited depicting the culture and a live song performance was done dedicated to the togetherness of Taj Santacruz. All the employees applauded the Kitchen team led by the executive Chef Mr Vikas Milhoutra for providing a delicious treat.

9 GVK HOSPITALITY Vivanta by Taj Rang Barse Holi is a day filled with colors which signify the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter and repair broken relationships. The HR team of Vivanta by Taj had organized a musical chairs event for their associates at the Staff dining hall to celebrate the festival of colors. The Dining hall echoed with laughter and one could see the excitement on the faces of associates while some were running to grab their chairs and others dancing on the tunes while running around. Post the game the associates played colors with their colleagues from different teams and departments. High tea with snacks were served to all the employees to end an exciting evening. GVK BIO GVK BIO co-hosts the BIO Asia 2018 GVK BIO co-hosted and exhibited at the prestigious BIO Asia 2018 from 22 to 24 February, 2018 held in Hyderabad. Dr Sudhir, President, Discovery and Development, GVK BIO shared the challenges and solutions for building sustainable innovation in a panel discussion on Innovative Ecosystem in Lifesciences industry. Industry stalwarts also shared their opinions on the emerging areas of pharma industry at the same event. GVK BIO also set up an innovative stall which showcased the virtual tour of its state-of-the-art facilities and solutions to the visitors. GVK BIO celebrates National Science Day GVK BIO celebrated National Science Day by nurturing the scientific temper among its employees and other senior executives. This year GVK BIO launched SEA - the Scientific Excellence Academy, an integrated program to ignite and sustain scientific thinking among the employees. Dr Amit Biswas, EVP Integrated Product Development, Dr Reddy s shared his various inputs on Global Impact of the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry and Prof Javed Iqbal, Founder and Chairman of Cosmic Discoveries Inc., also shared his views on the emerging concept of 3D printing and its impact in the drug manufacturing industry. The employees who completed their PhD at GVK BIO were also felicitated by the chief guests on the occasion.

10 GVK ONE mall conducted a strong campaign SAY NO TO DOPE in collaboration with the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Hyderabad to bring awareness to the mall visitors about the bad effects of drug addiction and also to discourage them against any kind of drugs. The GVK ONE mall also distributed printed Posters and T-shirts to the mall visitors GVK ONE GVK ONE mall conducts a campaign Special Activities at GVK ONE Mall GVK ONE Mall and Shoppers Stop jointly conducted special entertainment activities for the visitors of the mall. They also distributed prizes and gifts to the children of the visitors to give them a pleasant surprise. GVK EMRI 108 staff helps to deliver twins GVK EMRI Mr Desur Bhuva and MR Naresh Chauhan 108 Emergency Medical Technician from GVK EMRI Gujarat helped in breech birth delivery in the ambulance while going to hospital on 28 January, Breech birth refers to the position of a baby during delivery when the legs (instead of the head) are delivered first. The patient Jayshreeben Vishwakarma was admitted in nearby hospital in Laminagar Yadav Nagar in Vastrapur with their twin baby. Gujarat was the second state where the free emergency services were introduced and have helped in over 75,000 childbirths through their 262 Janani Ambulances. GVK EMRI operates Janani drop back ambulance services in various other states of India also under the under Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojana (JSSK-Drop back) scheme of the States Government. GVK EMRI launches 102 services in Howrah Hon ble Minister Department of Co-operation, Government of West Bengal Mr Arup Roy launched 102 services along with CMOH and DM and other dignitaries at Howrah District hospital on 15 February. This 24 7 Emergency Transportation Service is for expectant mothers and sick infants up to 1 years through toll -free Centralized helpline no 102 in the District Howrah.

11 GVK EMRI GVK EMRI Goa Launches the First Responder Bike Ambulances Honorable Chief Minister of Goa Shri Manohar Parrikar launched a new fleet of First Responder Bike Ambulances at Porvorim in the presence of Health Minister Mr Vishwajeet Rane, Directorate Health Department Mr Dalvi and other dignitaries from GVK EMRI Goa Team on 8 February, The 108 bike ambulances are well equipped with basic medical facilities that are required to assist in any medical emergency and they also have different types of masks to be connected to the oxygen cylinder if needed. The ambulances riders are highly trained professionals who can reach even odd places to the 108 caller by overcoming traffic smoothly and move through narrow lanes. GVK EMRI provide services at Medaram Jathara GVK EMRI Telangana have deployed 15 ambulances and 5 First Responder Bike Ambulances at the core areas of Medaram Jathra to provide medical services to the devotees of Jathara. The Hon ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Sri Raman Singh on 1 February, 2018 and the Hon ble Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Chief Minister of Telangana Shri Chandrasekhar Rao on 2 February, 2018 had visited Medaram Jathara to grace the occasion and also for the darshan of the tribal goddess Sammakka. District Collector Sri R.V. Karnan IAS, Medaram Jathara Special Officer Sri Prashanth Jeevan Patil IAS and Sub Collector Sri Goutham IAS visited our ambulance and interacted with all employees to provide timely emergency services to devotees facing emergency health problems and also encouraged them for their excellent efforts in saving the devotees lives in an emergency. Medaram Jathara or Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara is one of the biggest tribal festivals in Telangana on the lines of the Kumbh Mela and it was organized by the Government of Telangana from 29 January to 3 February, The Medaram Jathara festival is held every two years in Medaram Village of Tadvai Mandal.

12 Significant Days of the Month International Women s Day 8 March International Women s Day is celebrated throughout the globe on March 8th every year. The day gives an opportunity to appreciate the remarkable contributions of women in our society. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity by celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This day has been recognized by the United Nations General Assembly as a means of recognizing the contribution of women to the society. The messages given at public events on this day focus on various themes such as the importance of education for women and career opportunities etc. World Kidney Day 9 March World Kidney Day is a global health awareness campaign focussing on the importance of kidneys and reducing the occurrence of kidney diseases and associated health problems. It is observed annually on the 2nd Thursday of March. Various campaigns including conferences, seminars, marathons, competitions and fund raising etc. are conducted worldwide to apprise the citizens about the significance of kidney health. World Water Day - 22 March World Water Day is held annually on March 22nd as a means of drawing attention towards the importance of fresh water and advocating the sustainable management of fresh water resources. The day gives an opportunity to learn more about water related issues, be inspired and take action to make a difference. Each year, World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of fresh water and this year s theme is how to make good use of Waste water. International Day of Happiness - 20 March In 2012, the United Nations declared March 20th as the International Day of Happiness. It recognizes that happiness is a fundamental human goal and calls upon countries to approach public policies in ways that improve the well-being of all people. The initiative to declare a day of happiness came from Bhutan - a country whose citizens are considered to be some of the happiest people in the world. Bhutan tops the measure of national and societal prosperity, called the Gross National Happiness Index (GNH). Earth Hour - 25 March Earth Hour is the world s largest demonstration of support for action on climate change. Organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the event is held annually encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses from over 7000 cities globally to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 PM as a symbol of their commitment to the planet. Earth Hour is scheduled on the last Saturday of every March closely coinciding with the equinox to ensure most cities are in darkness as it is rolled out around the world.
