7 What Can You Do All stakeholders can work together to advance UAS technology, while protecting Americans safety, as well as their rights. AUVSI supports: Transparency measures such as requiring the registration of unmanned aircraft and pilots with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Prohibiting the weaponization of civil UAS, as the FAA already prohibits the deployment of weapons on civil aircraft. Accountability for anyone who misuses UAS or any technology. The robust legal framework already in place, rooted in the Fourth Amendment to our Constitution and decades of case law, which regulates how law enforcement uses any technology Instead of how the government collects information, the focus should be on the extent of government s right to collect, use, store, share, and delete personal data. AUVSI is opposed to any legislation that needlessly restricts the use of unmanned aircraft and treats it differently than information gathered by a manned aircraft, or other electronic means.
