13 Arrival Routes Runway 24 in use VFR West/North - Follow Heli Route West/North to the Northern Aerodrome boundary and join Right Base for an approach to FATO 24. VFR East/South Follow Heli Route East/South, then to the Queens Parade as a clearance limit. Proceeding beyond Queens Parade will only be approved once suitable integration with inbounds for Runway 24 and the FATO 24 pattern has been achieved, by means of traffic information and sighting by the pilot, or under instruction of the Tower Controller. Upon crossing the Runway 24 extended centreline, the Helicopter shall establish on final for the FATO 24. IFR Radar Positioned for SRA or Visual Approach Runway 24. Runway 06 in use VFR West/North - Follow Heli Route West/North to the Northern Aerodrome boundary and join Left Base for an approach to FATO 06. VFR East/South Follow Heli Route East/South to the Southern edge of Queens Parade, then via the Army golf course to the Southern Aerodrome boundary. Proceeding beyond the southern aerodrome boundary will only be approved once suitable integration with inbounds for Runway 06 and the FATO 06 pattern has been achieved, by means of traffic information and sighting by the pilot, or under instruction of the Tower Controller. Upon crossing the Runway 06 extended centreline, the Helicopter shall establish on final for the FATO 06. IFR Radar Positioned for SRA or Visual Approach Runway 06. Departure Routes Runway 24 in use VFR West/North After lift from FATO 24, climb parallel to the display line markers until past the Control Tower, then turn right to Northern Aerodrome Boundary, then follow Heli Route West/North VFR East/South After lift from FATO 24, climb parallel to the display line markers until authorised by the Tower controller to cross Runway 24, then avoid overflying the Airshow Exhibition site with a left turn to the Southern Aerodrome Boundary and the Army Golf Course, then to Southern edge of Queens Parade, then Heli Route East/South. Clearance to cross the display markers shall not be given until any Runway 24 departure has passed beyond the Helicopter, or during any period that a Runway 24 landing operation has been issued clearance to land, until such time as that aircraft has landed. IFR Departure will be from Runway 24 (not via the FATO) and follow standard IFR departure instructions. Runway 06 in use VFR West/North After lift from FATO 06, climb parallel to the display line markers until passing HELICOPTER OPERATORS GUIDE FIL MARCH 2018

16 Interaction with Airshow Display Periods In the period immediately prior to a display commencing, helicopter operations will be stopped in sufficient time to be on the ground or a suitable distance away from the airfield prior to display commencement. Post display operations during the airfield closure period are acceptable, provided they do not hinder essential Airshow repositioning activities. Wake Turbulence procedures. Arriving helicopters are to be issued with recommended Wake Turbulence spacing phraseology as per CAA CAP493 (MATS Part 1). Operators will not normally utilise the full gap indicated as part of the recommendation, but will adjust their arrival profile to avoid wake turbulence encounters. Departing helicopters will not require departure wake turbulence separations when the main Runway operation involves a light or small aircraft. Missed Approaches The standard Missed Approach for FATO 24/06 is to climb straight ahead, remaining north of the Display line markers to remain in the visual circuit for the FATO. Minimum Departure Interval (MDIs) On occasion the outbound flow of Helicopters may be restricted on request by TC SVFR or Battersea. This may result in ground delays to achieve one departure every five minutes to Battersea. HELICOPTER OPERATORS GUIDE FIL MARCH 2018
