1 PILOT BRIEFING ROVANIEMI X-MAS FLY-IN
2 GENERAL ICAO: EFRO IATA: RVN Runways: 03/21 AIP SUPPLEMENT An AIP Supplement will be in effect on the day of the event. This supplement details vital procedures for the airport, study it carefully. You will be expected to know the information detailed in this supplement upon arriving the Rovaniemi TMA. The AIP Supplement is found on the last pages of this document. LAYOUT Rovaniemi has one runway and three aprons (one civil and two military). The military aprons are located to the north of the runway and the civil apron to the south. The airport has one main taxiway, T, which runs along the full length of the runway. The airport has limited parking stands available, thus when you reach the stand, disconnect to give way to new arrivals. DEPARTING TRAFFIC If you will not be fully ready for departure when reaching the holding point, you must advice ATC! Rovaniemi TWR will consider that 5 minutes from the time the aircraft starts taxiing is enough to in order to complete all cabin checks and achieve cabin readiness. TWR will advise if delay needs to be made. TAKEOFF CLEARENCE When instructed to enter the runway, pilots are required to commence the maneuver without delay. Pay special attention to your takeoff clearance as you might be advised of whom to contact after departure and when with the takeoff clearance!
3 ARRIVING TRAFFIC All flights arriving Rovaniemi shall be planned via the following TMA entry points: - NEMGU - RENVI - NEPIX - ROTKO - OSLIT The STAR chart of Rovaniemi offers no standard holding patterns at the TMA boundary. Because of this, standardized holding patterns that will be in effect on the day of the event has been established in the AIP Supplement! If you arrive at the IAF, without having received prior instructions as what to do when reaching, maintain your present heading after passing the IAF! On initial contact with approach (Rovaniemi Radar), state the following: What to include Example - Callsign - ATIS FIN 1: Rovaniemi Radar, Finnair 1, information B While being transferred from Radar (FREQ MHz) to Arrival (FREQ MHz), the pilot shall restrict the initial call to CALL SIGN only, in order to avoid frequency congestion. Make sure that you read the entire ATIS as it may contain important information with regards to your arrival to Rovaniemi. APPROACH & LANDING During your approach Rovaniemi Radar will expect you to be able to plan your rate of descent as to reach the IAF at 2500ft, but do not descend without explicit prior permission by Rovaniemi Radar / Arrival. In high density situations it is vital that you maintain the speed you are instructed! DO NOT slow down when you feel like it. ATC will slow you down in time. The speed on the ILS must be kept at 160KIAS until reaching 4dme final. Advise if unable due to weight or performance! An instruction to land after might be issued by Rovaniemi Tower if assured that the arriving traffic will have vacated the runway before you cross the threshold, as per standard ICAO separation. FIN 1, preceding Boeing 738 is vacating the runway, surface wind --- degrees/--- knots, runway 21 cleared to land
