1 Subject: Performance of domestic airlines for the year Traffic data submitted by various domestic airlines has been analysed for the month of Oct Following are the salient features: Passenger Growth Passengers carried by domestic airlines during Jan-Oct 2014 were as against during the corresponding period of previous year thereby registering a growth of 8.61% (Ref Table 1). Pax Carried (in Lakhs) Growth: YoY = % MoM = % YoY MoM Passenger Load Factor The passenger load factors of various scheduled domestic airlines in Oct 2014 are as follows (Ref Table 2): Sep-14 Oct-14 Pax Load Factor (%) Air India Jet Airways JetLite Spicejet Go Air IndiGo Air Costa Air Asia 1

2 The passenger load factor in the month of Oct 2014 has shown decreasing trend compared to previous month due to additional flights during the festive season. Cancellations The overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic airlines for the month of Oct 2014 has been 1.36%. Cancellation rate of IndiGo is high which is account of weather related cancellations due floods in Jammu & Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh. Airline-wise details of cancellations are as follows: IndiGo 2.35 Air Costa 1.86 Air India (Dom) 1.45 Go Air JetLite Jet Airways Spicejet Air Asia Cancellation Rate (%) Various reasons of cancellations are indicated below: Technical 13.9% Conse/Misc 33.1% Operational 4.1% Commercial 7.4% Weather 41.5% 2

3 Passenger Complaints during the month During Oct 2014, a total of 1080 passenger related complaints had been received by the scheduled domestic airlines. The number of complaints per 10,000 passengers carried for the month of Oct 2014 has been 1.8. The airline-wise details are as follows: Go Air 4.4 Air India (Dom) 2.9 Jet Airways+JetLite 2.3 Spicejet 1.2 Air Asia 0.7 IndiGo 0.6 Air Costa No. of Complaints/10,000 Pax Various reasons of passenger complaints are indicated below: Fare 0.3% Refund 4.6% Disability 0.0% Catering 0.1% Staff Behaviour 5.3% Others 17.7% Customer Service 24.8% Flight Problem 28.3% Baggage 18.9% 3

5 On-Time Performance (Scheduled Domestic Airlines) On-Time Performance (OTP) of scheduled domestic airlines has been computed for four metro airports viz. Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. At the time of compilation of this report, OTP data of 45 carriers was received. The overall On-Time Performance (OTP) of these 45 carriers for the month of Oct 2014 has been 83.0% in departures and 81.3% in arrivals.
