2 2 3 CHASING THE STARS FOR 25 YEARS! In 2017, SmartLynx celebrated 25 years of an adventurous journey. A journey that has brought our company to the destinations we always wanted to reach and connected us to the places, people and opportunities that made the company what it is today. We are glad to continue the journey with you and we are really excited about everything that awaits us in the future!

4 6 7 Our legend Lynx is a particularly faint and mysterious constellation of the Northern hemisphere. Johannes Hevelius, who discovered the constellation, named it in honour of a wild cat, because only those with good vision and great patience, which are characteristics of the lynx, are able to identify it. The Lynx constellation is also the basis of the name and philosophy of SmartLynx. Our team operates as carefully, wisely and neatly as a lynx in order to make the invisible connections between people, cities and even continents similar to the ones we imagine between stars in constellations. The lynx teaches us that the world unfolds to those who know how to listen, observe and act prudently, which are the qualities that also epitomise our working style and values. We are proud that SmartLynx Airlines forms its own unique constellation in the sky by creating connections between different destinations around the world.
5 8 9 History Founded in 1992 (as Latcharter Airlines). The first airline to provide package holidays from Riga, well equipped to provide for sport, event, concert, governmental, military and executive charter flights. The second largest local carrier and fleet owner. Addition of two YAK-42D aircraft to the fleet and full introduction of JAR requirements. Nine regular holiday destinations. Beginning of wet lease Acquisition of five more A and two B Acquisition by Loftleidir Icelandic of Icelandair Group. Enters the worldwide ACMI market. Introduction of A and addition of a second A Rebranding and change of name to SmartLynx. Smart and reliable solutions within a business to a business niche market represented by a wildcat specific to Latvia. Management takeover of SmartLynx resulting in a change of ownership of the company. Although the connection with Loftleidir remains, SmartLynx is now an independent entity. Establishment of the subsidiary SmartLynx Airlines Estonia. A Netherlands-based investment fund becomes the owner of the company. SmartLynx aims to enlarge its fleet by 1-2 aeroplanes each year and expand the geography of its operations beyond Europe to Asia.
