1 Marshfield Airport Committee Minutes April 25th, 2018 Meeting called to Order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman John Berg Present: Chairman John Berg, Chris Jockheck, Paul Knauf, Dan Maurer and Vice Chairman Jack Bremer Absent: None Also Present: Josh Miller, Dan Knoeck, Duffy Gaier and Jeffrey Gaier Citizens Comments: None Airport Historical Marker - Discussed, No Action Taken - The Marshfield Historical Preservation Committee would like to form a partnership with the Marshfield Airport Committee to formulate the design and construction of a marker noting the significance of the the airport to the City of Marshfield. There will be follow-up discussions to this project in future meetings. 2 April 25th, 2018 Marshfield Municipal Airport, Roy Shwery Field Airport Management Report The weekend of April 14th and 15th Central Wisconsin had an major snow event. We spent three days working on removing the snow. Being that it was late in the season it was a wet heavy snow. Thankfully we made it through without any breakdowns. We did have a jet company contact us on the 14th that they wanted to come in and drop off some passengers on the 15th. We did advise them that the weather forecast was predicting a major snow event and that they would have difficultly getting into any airport in Central and Northern Wisconsin. They did not try coming in on the 15th. The airport was open Monday for business after we had finished plowing. We estimate that the airport received around 17 inches between the two days. That was more snow then we have seen most of the snow plowing season. Due to the weather and road conditions it was decided that members of airport management and the airport committee, not travel to Madison for the Bureau of Aeronautics airport sessions on April 16th. Wisconsin road reports had most roads listed as snow covered with hazardous travel conditions after the snowfall of the weekend. Jeff talked with our temporary project manager at the Bureau of Aeronautics, Andy Trimble. Jeff let Andy know that we would not be coming. We will arrange a meeting for another day. The Marshfield Historical Preservation Committee would like to partner with the Marshfield Airport Committee and establish a historical marker noting the significance of the airport to Marshfield.

3 At the same time of the establishment of a historical marker, that may be the perfect opportunity to reposition the stainless steal structures closer to the airport terminal building or surrounding grassy areas. We have an airplane structure in the grass along 29th street. There is also the Contrails structure located in front of the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter that will need to be repositioned. We have been watching the snow and water drain away from the new areas where the drainage was improved last fall by the private hangar area. It looks like there drainage is working as it is supposed to and removing the water so that it doesn t back up into the hangars. As the weather has turned warmer we are seeing signs of people enjoying the sun and temperatures. People are again asking to learn to fly, pilots are taking their planes out of winter storage and flying, the hoses for washing airplanes are outside. Soon we will be putting out the benches so people can sit out on the ramp and watch the airplanes.
