1 Namibia Hydrological Services Private Bag Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry Government Office Park Namibia Enquiries: Ms Pauline Mufeti Tel :( +264) Fax :( +264) Urgent calls:( ) & HYDROLOGICAL SERVICES NAMIBIA- DAILY FLOOD BULLETIN: 06 March 2017 Satellite images over the last 24 hours show good rains over the Kunene, Cuvelai, Kavango and Zambezi basins, light showers are also observed over the central parts of the country. Water levels in the western Cuvelai Iishanas continue to rise. The central Cuvelai Iishanas, water levels are slightly dropping but are expected to rise in the coming 2 to 5 days, taking into consideration the flood wave that have reached Ondjiva, yesterday at 6 pm, as communicated by our Angolan Counterparts. The following are current water levels recorded from the hydrological gauging stations namely Shashuuli 1.00m, Okatana 0.88m Shaneheke 0.49m, Shanalumono 0.64m, Endola 0.81m, Onyele 0.68 and Oshikuku 0.63m. Namacunde recorded 0.50m on 01.March.2017 and Xangongo recorded 3.19m yesterday courtesy of Eng. Evangelisto Camati and Eng. Manuel Quintino-Angola. 3 G-WADI-rainfall accumulation for the past 24 hours preceding 08h00 on Readers can visit the Namibia Meteorological Services to view the rainfall bulletin and other useful weather and climate related information. Today s river levels: The Zambezi River level at Katima Mulilo started increasing and is currently at 2.78m (NamWater GP). The Kavango River levels are rising due to good rains in the catchment; Nkurenkuru is currently at 2.96m; Rundu recorded 5.13m; Mukwe recorded 3.27m. The Orange River levels are also rising; Blouputs station recorded 1.75m; Sendelingdrift 1.30m; Tses 0.89m. Ai-Ais recorded 1.34m this morning. According to NAMWATER Von Bach Dam at 54.5%, Naute Dam is at 101.0%, Omatako Dam is at 59.9% and Oanob is at 91.0%. Hardap Dam is currently at 72.1% and releases took place. See figures in the table below with readings from our gauging stations, site informants, and the satellitebased SADC Hydrological Cycle Observing System (SADC-HYCOS) Data Collection Platforms (DCPs).
