2 Full Itinerary Day 1 Arusha - Arusha National Park Meet & greet at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Transfer to the scenic Hatari Lodge located by Arusha National park for overnight accommodation. Hatari Lodge-Standard Room DBBL Day 2 Arusha National Park Morning safari game drive in Arusha National Park, where one can see the Ngurdoto Crater, Momella Lakes and a variety of wildlife including colobus monkey, sykes monkey, vervet monkey, bushbuck, hippo, elephant and giraffe. After lunch, visit the Tululusia Waterfalls on a short explorative walk from the lodge. Hatari Lodge-Standard Room DBBL Day 3 Arusha National Park - Lake Manyara National Park Depart in the morning for a full day safari game drive in Lake Manyara National Park with a chance to see the hippo pools and visit the boardwalk. Depart for Karatu town late afternoon. Gibb's Farm (M)-Standard DBBL Day 4 Lake Manyara National Park - Ngorongoro Crater Drive to Ngorongoro and descend into the Crater for a morning game drive. Here you can see a spectacular concentration of wildlife, including the big five. During your game drive you will drive across the dense forest and near the Soda Lake and enjoy viewing a variety of bird life. The crater is 2000ft. deep, and considered to be the 8th wonder of the world. At approx 13:00 descend into the crater for picnic lunch and afternoon game drive. After lunch, depart for Serengeti National Park. Driving towards the Serengeti plains you can expect some game viewing enroute, depending on the season particularly as you get closer to Ndutu area and Naabi Hill Gate, the border with Serengeti. The Serengeti has the largest concentration of plains animals - 4 million and 500 species of birds. Drive towards Chaka Mobile Camp with full day game drive enroute. Chaka is a mobile camp that follows the migration and depending on the time of year, it will be in the following locations: Ndutu from 01 December - 05 April Western Corridor (Grumeti) from 15 May - 30 June Northern Serengeti from 10 July - 15 November Chaka Mobile Camp Serengeti-Standard Tent DBBL Day 7 Serengeti National Park Full day safari game drive in migration territory to explore the Serengeti. Upon landing in Arusha, you will be met by our team and transferred to Arusha Coffee Lodge for a sumptuous lunch. Afternoon / Evening airport transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward international flight or optional flight connection to Pangani for a 4 Night / 5 Day beach extension. ** END OF YOUR SAFARI ** Accommodation Information Hatari Lodge Hatari Lodge is located adjoining one of Africa's most beautiful and diverse national parks, where the world's highest free standing mountain, Kilimanjaro rises majestically 5,895 metres into the blue skies above. Hatari Lodge is situated on the northern edge of Arusha National Park, with its unspoilt views of lakes and craters, its magical rain forests, and the 4,566 metre high dormant volcano Mount Meru, rising elegantly in the background. At the very heart of this luxury bush hotel, are the traditional farm buildings, which were used by the legendary actor Hardy Krüger, and his former manager, Jim Mallory. The Lodge consists of three buildings beautifully situated in acacia woodland with breathtaking views onto the Momella swamp, rich with wildlife, and across to the majestic Kilimanjaro. The boutique Hatari-Lodge offers 9 extremely comfortably furnished rooms, each with an open fireplace and a spacious bathroom ensuite. The breakfast terrace offers impressive views of Mt. Meru, Kilimanjaro and the wildlife from close by. 3 Hatari Lodge consists of three buildings beautifully situated within acacia woodland allowing excellent views of the Momella meadow, rich with wildlife, at a close distance the majestic Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. The oldest building serves as a large central living and dining room where you find a comfortable relaxation and dining area. Enjoy the freshly prepared dishes of international modern cuisine which are served here. There is a long bar, which can be accessed from both inside and out, as well as a small, but informative library. The breakfast terrace, bordered by sweet smelling acacias, offers impressive views of Mt. Meru and Kilimanjaro. Directly below the terrace lies the Momella clearing, which can be reached via a boardwalk to the viewing platform which offers the opportunity to watch the wild animals at close range, and to enjoy classic sundowners, with Kilimanjaro on the background. Buffalos and waterbuck feed here regularly and warthogs can be seen digging the ground or mowing the lawn. Water birds enjoy the swampy areas and numerous giraffes including the rare reticulated giraffes feed on the trees surrounding the lodge. The bush babies are also a common sight at night throughout the year and there is a small lake within walking distance, called Silver Lake, where Hippos can be found. In order to give back to the local community, the lodge seeks to aid the region through various creative programs. The current projects include educational development, sustainable agronomy, waste disposal, natural resource cultivation and protection, as well as a community center and an income for women through creativity. These are set up in order to develop the region and improve local living conditions. The principal goal is awareness through education and comfort through the individual income. Gibb's Farm (M) Gibb's Farm is an authentic Anglo East African farmhouse offering a welcome retreat for the traveller on safari to Tanzania. Overlooking the centuries-old Great Rift Valley and Ngorongoro Forest and surrounded by terraced flower gardens and ancient trees, Gibbs Farm is a sanctuary for the senses. 4 Chaka Mobile Camp Serengeti Chaka Camp is an intimate mobile tented camp located in the Serengeti ecosystem. The word Chaka comes from the word 'kichaka,' which means 'bush' in Swahili. The Camp operates off-the-grid and relies on a custom built solar system for its power. Room fabrics are handwoven African designs, and the camp's furniture was commissioned and crafted by artisans in Arusha, Tanzania. Each tent has a private, shaded verandah overlooking the Serengeti ecosystem, ensuite bathroom with wardrobe, flush toilets, and writing desk. Designed to be lightweight enough to move seasonally, the camp relocates to different parts of the Serengeti following the Wildebeest migration. Activities Information Tululusia Waterfalls Walk A walking safari through Arusha National Park to the sparkling waters of the Tulusia waterfalls is a great way to experience the park. The walking safari starts at the Momella gate. Together with an armed ranger you will go deeper and deeper into this mountain rain forest. Further on you may see colobus monkeys in the branches of the trees or little bushbucks whizzing through the thicket. Reaching Tululusia waterfalls it's time for a rest. Enjoy the refreshing water playing around your feet! After a relaxing break by the falls, return to your lodge. Exotic twittering birds accompany your walk with their joyful singing. Arrive at Momella gate again where you will be picked up by a vehicle to return to the lodge. Serengeti Balloon Safari This is an exclusive excursion over the Serengeti plains, offering unparalleled panoramic views of the awe-inspiring landscape. A very popular excursion for those of our clients willing to spend that little bit extra, and can be added on to any safari that includes a night in the Serengeti, at any of the lodges. Only two balloons fly each day, each with a capacity of only 16 people. Commencing with a pre-dawn pick up from your lodge and a drive of 60 minutes to the launch site, you then enter your hot-air balloon at dawn for a breath-taking one hour flight. As you float over the plains in the increasing light, the pilot will take you up to at least 1,000 foot altitude for a breath-taking panoramic view of the plains. Much of the remainder of the flight will be at a tree-top or even grass-top level for some close up views of the wildlife, flora and fauna below. On landing, you are met by the ground support team with a bottle of champagne. Then its off to the breakfast table, which will have been set up under a fine umbrella tree close to the landing spot. You are served a full cooked English breakfast with some tropical additions - a fine spread served on bone china with silver cutlery and crystal glasses. In case of cancellation by the operating company due to climatic conditions or any other reason, you will have the option of a flight the following morning if this fits into your itinerary, or a full refund. Flights by Light Aircraft Travelling into and out of bush airstrips is an exciting adventure. It allows you to fly over some of the most scenic landscapes in Africa, and offers a unique perspective from what you will have seen from your safari vehicle. Specially selected Cessna Grand Caravans tend to operate the flights, due to their versatile nature and ability to handle bush conditions with ease. Please note that soft bags are recommended for these flights due to limited luggage capacity. Weight allowance for luggage is 15kg per person. Lunch at Arusha Coffee Lodge A meal at the Arusha Coffee Lodge is an aromatic and sensory experience. Lying on the gentle rolling foothills that cascade down from the ever-present Mount Meru is the bustling and vibrant town of Arusha. It is here on the outskirts of this town, hidden amongst one of Tanzania's largest coffee plantations, that you will find Arusha Coffee Lodge, a perfect haven for relaxation either before or after any African safari. Under the direction of the Executive Chef, Arusha Coffee Lodge offers a delicious daily 4-course luncheon buffet, usually served in the large gardens nestled between the working coffee plantations. Lunch will always include a good variety of starters, hearty meals from the chaffing dishes, and a choice of desserts to end the meal. Transport Information Safari Vehicles Your safari experience will involve many exciting days viewing wildlife. As such, we pay utmost importance to the quality and comfort of your safari vehicle. Our safari vehicles are all converted into custom-built safari cars, with pop-up roof to enable visitors to view wildlife better. All vehicles are fitted with thickly-cushioned individual seats. All 4x4 Safari Land Cruisers carry between 5 and 7 persons, and everyone is guaranteed a window seat. All safari vehicles have two-way radio communication equipment fitted to keep in contact with our offices. An electric fridge, an inverter system for charging your cameras and ipads, a pair of binoculars and reference books on mammals, birds, flora and fauna are all standard equipment in each safari vehicle. Our Driver-Guides When you book with us you are assured driver-guides who are extensively trained, qualified and experienced. Their knowledge spans over virtually everything you will encounter on safari - the wildlife, flora and fauna, the birdlife, the people and the local culture. Each driver-guide undergoes a rigorous and mandatory training program, and their experience over the years means they are a wealth of information at all times. Fly-In Safaris If you are on a fly-in safari you may be required to share your vehicle with other guests at the lodge for transfers and game drives.
