2 What s On May half-term Official Bear Hunt Adventure Weekend 2nd - 3rd June Families looking for adventure can run through the wavy grass and splosh through the mud when they go on a Bear Hunt at Newtown. In partnership with Walker Books and Visit Isle of Wight, the special weekend will feature fun nature-themed activities for little ones, inspired by the children s book We re going on a Bear Hunt. Mini explorers can find out about the wildlife around them as they hunt for hidden bears across the grassy meadows and watery creeks. Adventure Activities Isle of Wight- School Holiday Adventure Days Young Adventurers School Holiday Adventure Days offer an exciting day of land and water activities for children between the ages of 8 16 during the school holidays. Young Adventurers will have the opportunity to try: Coasteering, Paddle Boarding, Archery, Kayaking Team Challenges, Climbing, Mountain Boarding, Bushcraft Skills, Mega SUP, and more! Creepy Crawly Carisbrooke Castle Enjoy the challenge of handling a variety of animals as creepy creatures have wormed their way into the castle. See how they move and how they feel, and have lots of fun encountering a variety of brilliant beasts. Wild West Week Yeeeehaaa! Wild west week returns at Blackgang Chine this May Half-Term from 26th May until 3rd June for some wild west fun! Whether you re an outlaw on the run from the law or a wannabe sheriff trying to keep the town safe, take centre stage in your own cowboy story! Immerse yourself in the theatrical live-action Cowboy Show, which returns more action-packed and explosive than ever before. Whose side will you be on? Victoria s Fabulous Garden Party From 29th May to 31st May, come to Osborne House and celebrate Queen Victoria s birthday with a fabulous party at her favourite home by the sea. Enjoy a traditional garden extravaganza with side saddle riders, jugglers, sideshows, sun, sea, tea and cake. Enjoy a real British celebration fit for a queen.

3 Disc Golf Championships Come and take part in Robin Hill s first Disc Golf championship on the 9-hole disc golf course! Test your aim, complete the course and see how your score compares daily from 26th May to 3rd of June. With daily and weekly competitions for both children and adults. Don t worry if you ve never played before, the team will be on hand in the championship hub at the entrance to the disk golf course to give you your scorecard, tuition and tips. Fauna and Flora ID Trail Discover some of the fauna and flora that grow and live in the hedgerows and meadows around the windmill with the discovery board trail. Bembridge Windmill will be open from 26th May to 3rd June. Launch Of 50 Things At Mottistone Gardens As you explore the gardens, discover many of the 50 things to do before you re 11 ¾ that you can try. You could make a kite, take a bare foot walk in the grass, roll down a really big hill or even make a den. 50 things launches on 29th May, kites cost 2 and normal admission charges apply. Newtown Wildlife Walk 31st May Newtown is home to a variety of wildlife, providing a rich delicate habitat which is carefully managed. On this gentle walk, you ll wander across grassy meadows, through ancient woodland and to the edges of the delicate saltmarsh to discover who lives there. The walk will be held between 14:00-15:30 call: Butterfly Walk - Compton The Ranger will guide you across two miles of Compton Down, one of the best sites for butterflies on the Isle of Wight. They ll help you spot and identify these delicate creatures and explain the work they do to ensure they can thrive. Meet at Afton Down Car Park one mile east of Freshwater Bay. The walk will be held on 1st June between 13:00-15:00. call: Dinosaur Isle Guided Fossil Walks Dinosaur Isle lead a number of guided walks at sites of known palaeontological and geological interest on the Isle of Wight. Over the May half-term there will be fossil walks held on the 28th, 29th, 31st May and also 1st June, the fossil walks will be held at various locations along the south coast of the Island. The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary is based between Shanklin and Ventnor on the road to Wroxall. Everyone is welcome to come and visit the lovely donkeys. Usually there are more than 100 animals in the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary s care usually over 90 donkeys and 25 horses and ponies. The animals live in over 55 acres of beautiful countryside.

Within the walled garden you can find the three chicken runs which are home to rescued ex-commercial hens. The woodland walk and wildlife hide is a trail that meanders through beautiful woodland and gives visitors the chance to catch a glimpse of the native Red Squirrel. Quarr Explorers Kits are available to borrow to really make the most of the trail. They contain binoculars, bug pot and activity cards to help get everyone involved. In addition, make sure you visit the very popular resident pigs, with a path around their enclosure which enables you to get close - but not too close!
