From honey coloured Cotswold villages to busy little market towns you will be transported back into England as it was before mechanisation, where sheep and dry-stone walling were the biggest industries. The Cotswolds is perfect biking country, we take the quietest roads so all you need to do is relax and enjoy the stunning vistas of chocolate box England. Global heritage sites abound with Windsor, home to the Queen and the majestic hunting ground of Windsor Great Park, the unique university city of Oxford, the mysterious Neolithic Stonehenge, Churchill s Blenheim Palace and Shakespeare s Stratford, all on our itinerary. With stunning views around every corner, excellent accommodation, wonderful pubs and beautiful cuisine, ActiveEngland will give you an experience you won t forget.

We visit Windsor Castle, home to the Queen, and Windsor Great Park, where we will fit you with your bikes and ensure you are ready to cycle on the wrong side of the road!

2 Accommodation Prestige - 4* hotel Country - 3* hotel Itinerary Day 1 We collect you at 8.30 from London at Paddington Station, platform 1, under the clock and take you by bus Windsor, which is about 1 hours drive. We visit Windsor Castle, home to the Queen, and Windsor Great Park, where we will fit you with your bikes and ensure you are ready to cycle on the wrong side of the road! Taking the bus to your hotel in Moreton-in-Marsh in the Cotswolds means a nice, gentle start to your holiday with biking for about 10 miles. 10 miles Day 2 We visit Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare, and home to the Royal Shakespeare Company and its theatre. If you would like to see a production at the RSC we can organise this for you (bookings need to be made in advance however). On the way to Stratford we visit the beautiful American inspired gardens at Hidcote, and ride down a disused railway line right into the heart of Stratford itself. The tour then returns to the market town of Moreton-in-Marsh for the evening.

3 20 miles 28 miles 38 miles Gently Rolling Rolling Rolling Day 3 The tour then winds its way through the majestic countryside of the Cotswolds, taking in some of the most well-known towns and villages including Chipping Campden, Bourton-on-the- Water, The Slaughters, Snowshill and the majestic Broadway Tower. For lunch we stop at the gardens at Snowshill Manor and then back to the Manor in Moreton in Marsh. 20 miles 33 miles Rolling Day 4 We cycle from Moreton-in-Marsh through the beautiful Cotswolds to the country home of Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace, a World Heritage Site. The morning is a downhill ride of approx. 20 miles, through gently rolling countryside. On arrival at Blenheim guests we provide guests with a sumptuous picnic over-looking the Capability Brown inspired gardens and give you ample time to explore the historical house and beautiful gardens. The afternoon ride takes us to the stunning Burford, the Gateway to the Cotswolds. 23 miles 30 miles 38 miles Gently Rolling Gently Rolling Gently Rolling Day 5 We head through the Cotswolds to the beautiful Cotswold town of Bampton, home to the hit show Downton Abbey (it is the village where all the outside filming is completed) then on to the home of William Morris, founder of the Arts and Crafts movement. We take all guests to Oxford by bus in the afternoon for a good look round the historical university town, returning to Burford in the evening. 16 miles 32 miles Day 6 We travel from Burford towards stunning White Horse Hill, the Ridgeway and then onto Avebury (Stonehenge but bigger) and then Stonehenge itself in what we call Neolithic Day. A ride of 25 miles and then an afternoon of sightseeing gives guests a half day off the bike. We end the day in the beautiful town of Tetbury, home to Prince Charles.

4 There is an additional option (availability is not guaranteed however) to visit Highclere Castle (by bus), the famous backdrop to the hit show Downton Abbey. Tickets to Highclere sell like hot cakes and are only available from July early September. 15 miles 25 miles Day 7 We will take you to the Roman city of Bath. In the morning we will ride into Bath, mainly downhill, via a 2000 year old Roman road! Then we take a full tour of the Roman Baths, the historic pump rooms, Jane Austen s house and the majestic Royal Crescent. Bath also has great shopping! Afterwards we ll take the uphill journey to the sixth night s accommodation in Tetbury although many take the option to ride in the support vehicle. 20 miles 30 miles 40 miles Gently Rolling Rolling Day 8 We will cycle through the picturesque South Cotswolds and onto the town of Lacock (20 miles) and visit the village that is wholly owned by the National Trust and used as a backdrop to Harry Potter and a number of famous films. We will then drive you back to Oxford, or other mainline railway stations. We aim to return to Oxford by 5.30pm. 20 miles 30 miles The Details Duration 8 days / 7 nights Start London Finish Oxford or Bath Price From $US 3329 Level of Activity This tour is rated 2/5 for difficulty meaning it s appropriate for guests going for a good ride and can handle an incline or two. The terrain we cover is varied. We ll enjoy some gently rolling hills, with wonderful downhills and a few climbs which will be a bit more demanding.
