3 Programme for Vladivostock, Russian Federation 19 August 21 August 2016 Vladivostok the heartbeat of Russian maritime, a Navy and sea-logistic hub and a city whose literate translation is the Ruler of the East. Vladivostok welcomes the ASEFSU20 team to explore the role of sea and connectivity. The city of about 600,000 inhabitants is not solely known for its naval marine scenery but also for its pointed mountains surrounding a network of bays. The city was closed for foreigners between 1930 and 1992, due to its high military importance, but has long acted as a maritime hotspot on a global level. Vladivostok experienced a wave of infrastructure investments prior to the Asian Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) conference in 2012, in which the today landmark bridge Golden Horn Bay was inaugurated. The ASEFSU20 team arrives in Vladivostok on Friday, 19 August 2016 and will spend 2 full days: Digging into the history, contemporary situation and prospects of maritime transportation through the local expertise found in Vladivostok Witnessing - on the first row - the reality of working in the maritime sector and visit local maritime hubs Visit the pearls of Vladivostok, from maritime landmarks to grand infrastructure investments and historical venues.
