1 May Issue 2 C4FF has been supporting the European Maritime Day (EMD) for several years as the Stakeholder and often arranges several meetings and or workshops during the EMD events. 6 The Centre will be participating in the EU funded MariePRO project during the EMD days on 18 th and 19 th May A report is expected from this event and will appear in the June. We wish the Sustainable Shipping Conference and the EMD events and workshop as well as MariePRO partner meeting a success. During the event s MariFuture initiated new projects such as MariEMS and MariLANG will be discussed with the EU and EC officials and several new proposals which MariFuture intends to promote in the coming year will also be discussed during the event in Turku, Finland. With this we would like to interest you in some of the additional opportunities on offer such as different site-visits and a matchmaking event, for which a few places are still available: 1. Matchmaking Event: This networking event targets innovative companies, universities, researchers, public authorities and is an ideal way to find technology and business partners through pre-arranged meetings during an event which attracts delegates and experts from across Europe and beyond. You simply need to register, present yourself, your company/organisation and a cooperation idea and select partners of interest to you in advance of the event. Meetings will take place on the 19 th of May 2016 in Logomo Centre. More info and registration: Site Visits 2. Meriaura Ltd. and ship simulators at Auriga, Tue 17 May 16:30 19:15: This site visit will have two stops: 1) Offices of marine transportation and logistics company Meriaura Ltd, 2) Auriga Business Centre, which is home to the Aboa Mare Academy and Training Centre for
7 professional and recreational seafarers, the Western Finland Vessel Traffic Centre, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre Turku (MRCC), and the Command Centre of the West Finland Coast Guard District. 3. Master shipbuilder Meyer Turku, Tue 17 May 16:00 18:00: Specializing in highly complex, innovative and environmentally friendly cruise ships, car-passenger ferries, and special vessels, Meyer Turku is carrying on Turku s commercial shipbuilding tradition, which started in Meyer Turku is one of the world s leading cruise ship builders and is currently building cruise ships for TUI Cruises, a fast ferry for Tallink, and will soon start construction of two cruise ships for Costa Crociere. The tour will include a tour of the Perno shipyard, an opportunity to board a ship, and a presentation by Meyer Turku. 4. AW-Energy Järvenpää Research Center, Tue 17 May 12:10 15:15: Organised by Ocean Energy Europe and AW-Energy, this visit will provide an insight into the European ocean energy sector, and the WaveRoller, one of the most advanced wave energy technologies in the world at the newly opened AW-Energy Järvenpää Research Center, near Helsinki airport. Bus transfer is provided between Helsinki Airport and Järvenpää, and then from Järvenpää to Turku. 5. NaviGate Trade Fair, Thu 19 May 15:30 17:15: NaviGate 2016 brings together key operators from the maritime cluster, including Wärtsilä, Elomatic, Meyer Turku, Enterprise Europe Network, and Royal Caribbean Cruises. This year s key themes are maritime industry logistics, and shipping. The trade fair will include seminars, briefings, recruitment, research, and training. Come and network with key maritime industry leaders at the Turku Fair Centre on 19 May Transportation will be provided from Logomo to the NaviGate trade fair, and then to the Turku City Centre.
