2 Great Jungle Marathon News! Paul Dickens came 4th in the Amazon Jungle Marathon! That's from the whole field of runners! And he was the 1st Briton too. We certainly have a real champion in our midst. Many Congratulations Paul we look forward to hearing all about it soon. A message from NIPPY CHIPPY Just to let all our customers know that we will no longer be serving Great Bradley on Friday evenings. We will however be coming to your village on Tuesday evenings, from 5 to 7pm, in Evergreen Lane. Looking forward to your continued and most valued support. Tracy and Colleen FUTURE EDITIONS OF THE BUGLE: Please tell us your news We ll be delighted to hear from you! In order that your Bugle reaches you early in the month all copy must be received by the 15 th of the previous month. Deadline for the December edition 2009 is 15 November. The Editorial team Anne Pigden jaspegp@sky.com Helen Smith helen@foxgreen.plus.com Sue Sylvester-Bradley sue@sylvester-bradley.org We thank our advertisers who help to fund this village newsletter contact Anne, Helen or Sue (see above) if you would like to place an ad. Please note that the advertisements in this magazine are accepted in good faith but are not personal recommendations of the editorial team. ST EDMUNDSBURY RURAL SOUTH SAFER NEIGHBOURHOOD TEAM extract from the OCTOBER 2009 NEWSLETTER Speeding is one of our priorities for this month and we continue to conduct checks at different locations throughout our villages. Speeding is a form of anti-social behaviour as it directly affects the lives of local residents. Please show consideration and ensure you keep to the speed limit when driving through the villages in order to keep our area as safe as possible. There continues to be thefts from outbuildings, sheds and barns. Please record serial numbers of all power tools and other movable items. If there is no serial number please mark the item with your post-code followed by your house name or number. There is nothing worse than having to return items believed to be stolen to an offender, because there is nothing to identify the owner. There have been a number of arrests for offences within our villages this month including offences for criminal damage, drink driving and assault in Clare, one male arrested and cautioned for assault in Kedington and another cautioned for drug possession in Stradishall. One male was arrested and is on police bail for theft from and theft of motor vehicles in Thurlow. 3 CHRISTMAS SHOPPING EVENING Brinkley Memorial Hall Wednesday 25th November 7.00pm-9.00pm Entrance: 1.50 (includes a raffle ticket) A variety of quality exhibitors selling; gifts, jewellery, beauty products, children s books, greeting cards, cakes, toys, refreshments and more! In aid of Burrough Green Playgroup Registered Charity Number: News from Burrough Green School The start of the new term has seen the start of our new build and 17 new children to our school. 11 have joined Mrs Downes in Reception and have settled in very well. It s impossible not to notice that we are undergoing building work and everyone is pulling together really well with our new routines. We are grateful to those of you who are car pooling as this has helped with the car parking at school. Then those children who use the walking bus are doing so really well many thanks to the parents who help to see the children safely into school. The next phase of the building plan is to install new drainage and to start digging the foundations. We are, however, still waiting for permission from relevant authorities for this to proceed. As a Church of England school we hold a monthly assembly at St Augustine s and invite parents along to join in our collective worship. During October we celebrated our harvest festival. Many thanks to the parents who donated food, which was distributed within the village by the children and also to the wider community. Our next church event will be a Remembrance Service on Friday 6 th November at 9.15am. The focus for this term is reading and for our Family Learning Festival we invited parents in for The Big Read. It is important to open the school to parents from time to time not just to see plays and assemblies but to integrate within the classroom to get a feel of classroom life. For up-to-date information regarding the new build and other events from school, please visit our website at Alison Brewin ajbrewin@waitrose.com Great Bradley Art Group The Art Group s new term started on 6 October and what fun we have been having with our new teacher, local artist Jan Couling. Do have a look at her website: For the first time in a long while we have a couple of spaces available; so if there are any wouldbe artists out there please get in touch with me (T: ) and I will let you have more details. The Group meets in the Village Hall on Tuesday afternoons for two hours from 2 pm.
