1 IMPS Newsletter Chairman Notes Welcome to your November edition of the IMPS Newsletter. The clocks have now gone back and summertime is officially over. The autumn has been kind so far and I know many of us have taken advantage of this by having the odd run out in our prized military vehicles. War and Peace Revival - Many of you are by now aware that the agreement of concessions for IMPS members attending the War and Peace Revival show has come to an end. The show was sold to Rex Cadman back in 2000 (with agreements) and from that date members continued to be fully engaged with the shows organisation and its running so enjoying the benefits of free entry. As of 2016 John Alison became the new owner of the War & Peace Revival Show and honoured these concessions for members in 2016 and IMPS members have enjoyed the concessions for some 17 years and all good things come to an end. Members will now pay the same as any other entrant staying and exhibiting their military vehicle/s at the show. If I am correct that is 35 for your m/v including 2 adults and 2 children. Your second m/v will be free to enter but the driver will pay and its occupants the normal show entry price. Full details will be on the W&PR website. IMPS Area Secretaries will have been organising local Poppy collecting over the two weeks leading up to Remembrance Day. I do hope members have given their support and time to their area's. The IMPS Area monthly meetings for East Kent, North Kent, Weald and WIMPS continue to have good support from the membership. Surrey members need to support their area as the numbers have dwindled and Sussex area needs a new Secretary. The main IMPS meetings at Dartford have seen a recent increase in membership turnout as a result of guest speakers being arranged by Jim Baxter and Ross Savage. We still need more of you to support these bi monthly meetings. Guest speakers are arranged for The IMPS Christmas dinner is booked for Thursday December 7th at the Plough PH, Hildenborough, Kent - entry forms are in this Newsletter. WEALD AREA Our monthly meetings continue to have good support from local membership. There are still some of you that are reasonably local who need to show your faces and join your fellow members for a chat about green machines and enjoy a glass of lemonade. As I write this report locally members are selling poppies over the next two weeks. Weald vehicles will be part of the procession for the Biggin Hill Remembrance Day parade. Our wreath will be laid at the War Memorial this year by IMPS member Paul Robins. Our Christmas dinner party is planned for Monday 11th December pm at the Kings Arms PH Biggin Hill. Santa will be making an appearance again - with gifts -turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be available - and there will be some entertainment - please do join us - drop me a line to book your seats. The Dig For Victory Show is counting down to their Christmas Dance on Saturday 25 th November at Princes Hall in Clevedon. There are still tickets left but last year s dance was a sell out so we advise you to buy in advance if you re going to join us. This year s live band will be the fantastic Five Star Swing keeping it up-tempo and playing wartime, Christmas and swinging hits. Five Star Swing are well known five piece band on the Forties circuit and have toured nationally and appeared at the Leicester Square Theatre in the West End. Tickets are a steal at 10 each and your ticket price includes a dance lesson from Swing Dance Bristol s professional dance teachers. 5 THE FROSTBITE RUN SUNDAY 7 th JANUARY 2018 It s that me of year again to start booking your places on the annual Frostbite Run, the ice breaker first run of the season and. as always, it will involve a military vehicle drive with a taxing route quiz to The Plough PH at Powder Mills, Hildenborough for an excellent dinner in the barn restaurant. Don t delay in reserving your places as the numbers are limited. The cost of the two meat carvery main course is 14 per adult and 7 per child (under 12 years) which we require as full advance payment. Vegetarian meals are the same pre booked price. In order to keep the cost down they will not be preparing desserts, however coffee and desserts may be ordered at the bar. Confirma on of booking and instruc ons will be sent out. PLEASE write clearly the NAMES of your party and not just the number of ckets required. Complete it carefully.
