Back to Our Rootes Weekend Itinerary Thursday 21 st July Coventry Motor Museum, Coventry Meeting at 10.00, we leave here at 11.00am to visit Humber Road, Coventry, Warwick University (founded by Billy Rootes), and wend our way to the Rootes Archive Centre in Banbury for lunch and a look round the Archive Centre. We will then head off to pass Ramsbury Manor, Berkshire Lord Rootes last home before his death in and make our way to the outskirts of London Friday 22 nd July. We assemble at The Ace Café on London s North Circular Road from 10am, leaving at 11am on a tour of the factory locations used by the Rootes Empire, passing through Central London to see the old HQ of the Rootes Group at Devonshire House in Piccadilly. Details are still being finalised of the full route. By late afternoon we will have arrived at the Ramada Hotel on the outskirts of Maidstone. Evening Fork Buffet at The Ramada Hotel followed by a talk on the History of the Hillman Minx, Super Minx, and Singer Vogue to be given by the Chairman of the Rootes Archive Centre Trust. The fork buffet must be pre booked and pre paid via this form. Saturday 23 rd July Tour of Maidstone, Goudhurst, Cranbrook and Hawkhurst to see where the Rootes Empire was founded. Guided walking tours around these villages will be included to show the fascinating history of these places, and the relevance to the Rootes family. Lunch is being laid on for us at St. Ronan s School in Hawkhurst. Cost, including drinks is 10 per head, payable on the day. Evening Ramada Hotel, Back to Our Rootes Gala Dinner, with guest speaker tbc, and invited guests. This must be pre booked and pre paid via this form.

3 Sunday 24 th July The Moor, Hawkhurst - Mass Gathering of Singer, and Rootes cars. Parades will be held throughout the day of Hillman Minxes , Hillman Minxes , Singer Vogues , Hillman Super Minxes The Back to Our Rootes Weekend accommodation is at The Ramada Hotel, Hollingbourne, nr Maidstone, Kent. The Hotel Room Rate does NOT include evening meals, so please use this form to book them.
